                    Hi All,
We have Sky @ £45'ish per month, for the Sports Package but no movies. Wanting to cancel and step down to freeSat. Do we need to change anything to get just freeSat, or if we cancel the paid service, will box still work with the card we have?
I see that to get freeSat service from scratch, you need to pay a one-off fee, but I assume thats for installation and set-up which we already have!
Thanks

Technically you'll have Freesat-From-Sky but the digibox will indeed still use the cancelled subscription card to decode the Free to Air channels. In addition, your BBC and ITV channels will remain linked to your postcode so that you'll continue to receive regional news programmes specific to your area.Do we need to change anything to get just freeSat, or if we cancel the paid service, will box still work with the card we have?
If you have Sky+, though, the recording capabilities will be disabled and you'll no longer be able to access your planner or On Demand.0

If you want Freesat (as opposed to Freesat From Sky), then you'll need to swap the Sky box for a Freesat one. It's a straight box swap and uses your existing mindish and LNB. No install is required.
However there's litle point in doing this unless you want to retain the Sky+ PVR functions, which will cease to work when you cancel your sub, as pointed out above. Otherwise use the current box to get !!!!!!)No free lunch, and no free laptop 0 0

Free to Air channels are just that they don't require a card, the few Free to View channels do require a card.0

Wednal, yes, you'll automatically revert to FreesatFromSky once your Subscription card realises you're no longer subscribing. You may be told you need to fork out £25 for a card - you don't. You've already got one.0

You do not need a new box just a Freesat card from Sky at a one off fee of £25. If you want to pause and record TV with your current box, then it's a fee of £10 p/m with Sky on FreesatIf you want Freesat (as opposed to Freesat From Sky), then you'll need to swap the Sky box for a Freesat one. The OP does not need a card or have to pay anything, they already have a working viewing card with their existing Sky sub. This will continue to work with Freesat From Sky.
All they will lose are the subscription channels and the PVR functions. No free lunch, and no free laptop 0 0
