sold wrong size

I bought my girlfriend an underwear set consisting of a bra and panties, it came to £100. When i was choosing the items the manger of the shop was assisiting me. Once i had chosen the set i wanted and told the manager the size i wanted to buy, she took them off and wrapped them, i paid for them and left.

Unpon opening the gift my girlfriend right away saw they were too big. I'd asked for a size 6 but the manager had given me a size 6US which means its a size 12UK. I took it back and she changed it to the smallest size they do which has turned out to be still to big.

In a nutshell ive been sold an item of clothing which was the wrong, in fact the shop doesnt stock the size i requested and the only thing theya re willing to do is give me a credit note but i dont see the point in that when they dont have the size i need.

What are my options?

We've had fairly mild weather but January often brings a cold snap, size 6? She needs to put on some padding for the winter. :p

Seriously though, I'd just go back and demand a refund not credit since you can't buy the item you want from them.
  • Easier solution - start feeding up your gf!

But seriously, there isn't too much you can do except ask nicely. Store credit is reasonable and is more than you are entitled to, statutorily, unless you can prove you were mis-sold. Can your gf not get pajamas or something similar from there? Or maybe she can use the credit to buy something for her mum/sister/friend?

A selection would be fine, then we can just pick out the ones we like.
