Well a look here would be a start...

Loads of big companies have come in OR expanded significantly in the last 5 - 10 years OR are intending to expand in the future.

    Bit Off topic but,
Most have been here for years, but I do agree NI can be an attractive place for near sourcing as we are a cheap, local, English speaking alternative to India.

Be interesting to see what the net job creating figure is, even with Load of big companies" expanding. I'm betting pretty small or zero.

If you want to appeal for near sourcing you need to A: continue to pay setup grants and B: remain cheap. Cheaper houses are a good thing then?

Worth pointing out that only 33% of InvestNI "promoted" call centre jobs make more than the NI average wage. Yet the majority of InvestNI "promoted" jobs have been call centre based.

House prices will see a steady and continual rise for the foreseeable future. Not at the rate they did when things went mad but slow and steady nevertheless.

Why? Quite simply because of the media. House prices in the media are going up (regardless of what the reality of the situation is) and the supply of houses is still weak. People believe everything they are told and panic easily.

Just demonstrates that entry level call centre pay isnt brilliant - what job is for entry level jobs, but there are opportunities to progress and earn a decent wage.

I guess we could argue it all day. We clearly both have different viewpoints on this.

I'm happy to agree to disagree.

Yes get a few estate agents into a studio and they will say that there is a recovery in house prices when in fact it there clearly isn't.

Get a few community workers in a studio and they will say that what Northern Ireland needs is more houses when in fact there is clearly an over-supply of houses as evident by the low prices and thousands of empty properties.

I think you're not far wrong. These things are all about consumer confidence and consumer confidence is LOW.

There is significant talk of price rises on the mainland and i think we'll - as previously - catch the tail end of that at some point and prices will creep upwards.

No idea really. I dont think anyone does. Mildly entertaining to debate it though. :D

There is evidence though of signs of a recovery in the housing market, which i would suggest is preceeding a rise in prices.

Probably the wrong sort of property in the wrong places. Mid sized detached is probably where theres been least demand.

I dont think the answer though is to crush prices so low as to make those 'affordable'.
