All paint mixing now is done by computer and a weighing machine it's pretty hard to mess up long gone are colour cards and rubbing a wet finger down the adjacent panel

Assuming they get the correct variant to start with then agreed. Taking a colour code or reg number doesn't guarantee getting the right result. There is more to it than most people think.

Anyway, good luck getting your motor sorted. Sorry for the slight hijack :)
  • I'm assuming that you didn't sign to say you were happy with the work the insurance company won't pay for it.

I paid my excess (was told I had to by the garage) but have not signed a thing saying that I am happy with the repairs..

We'll see how the 3rd goes but I'm not holding much hope :(
  • Sorry to tell you this but if it is a BMW from my experience they are no help what so ever, they will just refer you back to the dealer. BMW will tell you the dealer are a separate company and that you need to deal with them. I got mine sorted by going into the showroom and insisting on an appointment with the dealer principal and nobody else. They don’t like meeting customers face to face, show them your car and ask them how they plan to rectify it.

And choose a time when a lot of potential customers are in the showroom

Well I know when I chase up payments from insurance companies very often I am asked to send in customer satisfaction confirmations along with the invoice. If they don't get this then we don't paid.

What sort of dealership it ? By that is it a chain or an individual franchaise ?

Part of a large BMW and Mini chain, I'm not giving specifics at this stage as I don't want it to hamper any progress..

If they don't play ball then I might print the pictures out and post them 10 feet high across their front door :)

He came, he saw and agreed that it was not acceptable. He has advised me to take it to the only BMW dealership in the South East to have its own in-house Approved Bodyshop.

I went to see them yesterday, they advised that it is their policy not to do remedial work but as I purchased my car from them they would 'look into it', but couldn't promise anything.

The man there also said that they have the man from BMW UK HQ visiting on the 17th and has suggested that I meet up with him, which sounds promising.

I've also got a quote from a 3rd party for the work, so we'll see how it compares.

Also an interesting one; On the original bill & estimate the original bodyshop quoted time and materials to respray the rear bumper and fuel filler cap - both of which had not been touched with any paint until it went back the second time :naughty:
