it won't matter for Vdara or for many who aren't interested in gambling much (or at all) but booking direct does mean potentially reducing your hotel bill at check-out if you are a players club member and play at your home casino or others in the group...sometimes at check-out (or the night before which is what we normally do) you can get a reduction on your room bill if you check what your players club activity may have earned you.

Again, will not impact everyone...but is one reason we book direct even if rates are a bit higher...I cannot say for sure one way or the other but do wonder if we would have had the offers at Cosmo we had if we had booked using a 3rd party for our last stay...it's possible, if the offers were solely based on our play and not having booked direct before.

it is of course an unknown quantity and many may prefer to book with a 3rd party if it's cheaper and know that's all they will pay...there are a lot of factors that will come into play so no guarantee of any reduction at check-out...but if booking with a 3rd party it goes away completely (other than perhaps food and other things charged to the room).

Actually, it may matter for Vdara - if play at other casinos in the group would be viewed in terms of reduction in hotel rates at Vdara, I'm not sure.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I did a search with Netflights for hotels, and there is no mention of resort fee, so i have emailed them to ask a question, got the auto response reply, followed by a lady asking the details so she can check the info, etc etc...
I'll keep you posted with the reply..

We did that Cosmo deal before and it was great if you're a slot player and are going to play anyway...we each did it once, but played together (first time on one card, second time on another)...the nice thing is that if you start playing one day and have a nice win, you can just take that and go - you don't have to commit to it in advance...and then try again another day...we did that one day, had a $200 win and decided to skip the losing $100 to get $100 back that day since we were so far ahead. When we played it we took turns of $10 each so both played, but played on one card each time.

It has always been my understanding the the resort fee is mandatory. The only get out is if you book via a 3rd party and it is stated/included in your total bill.

Thanks for the Priceline info Lesley, very useful.

If Trump is classed as "North strip vicinity" it should be fairly easy to avoid it.

The rooms there do sound nice, but I don't like the location and it has just never appealed to me.

I did use Priceline for Vegas yonks ago, so long ago that I can't remember where we stayed, but it might have been the Encore.

As for City Center............... Prince Charles's comments about a carabunkle, etc fit it perfectly. I hate the look of the place although the hotels, etc inside it are really nice.

I've just done some bids for September Luci, so I'm now totally up to speed on it. Zone 2 is North Strip Vicinity, and it would actually be quite easy to select it instead of Zone 7 Strip North due to the strange order they are listed in!! Definitely tread carefully with Priceline. Well I just bid:-

Strip North 5* £70 - failed (lowest winning bids for Venetian $109)
added 4* Strip North £26 - failed (lowest winning bid TI $40)
added Strip North Vicinity £30 - failed (knew I wouldn't get Trump but if I did at £30 I would be happy!!)

Was aiming for Venetian (or gladly accept Palazzo or Wynn), and with the lower bids was aiming for TI/Mirage (don't mind which - we like TI and would like to try The Mirage). So now I need to wait 24 hours!

As for Trump's location, it depends on what hours you keep. When we stayed there walked on the sidestreet if it was light, or through the mall if we preferred. The issue arises when the mall closes and it's dark. There's a shuttle to/from Wynn, I think it just goes back and forth and over to Caesars too. So it wasn't a major issue. That said, it's cheaper than the other 5* places so it is 'different' to them as well. There's so much choice in Vegas :)

me too...which is why it's probably really frustrating if 3rd parties are saying something else to their customers...with some of the resort fees being so high now I can see that it would fundamentally change someone's decision on which hotel to go with if the answer to this was miscommunicated...but I'm sure that there's some sort of clause in the T&Cs that would protect them somehow.

Well we have cracked....after saying we weren't going away this year due to buying our first house, we have spent the last fortnight researching Florida before thinking s*d it last night and booking Vegas flights

Normally go direct with Virgin but had some Thomas Cook vouchers left from the engagement years ago and were nervous of keeping them in case they go under so have booked 2 direct flights flying with Thomas Cook in early July. Not cheap by old standards, however they are a means to an end, and that end is VEGAS BABY!!!!

So excited I couldn't sleep last night :-( We have previously stayed in Wynn/Encore/Mandarin but as we are on a much stricter budget this year (planned to do 3 or 4 weeks in Vegas next year) we are looking at cheaper places. We have 4 free nights at the Staybridge Suites (yes I know, but we love it) so are looking at 10 nights elsewhere. We are flexible in terms of staying in one place or moving around.....on the list at the moment (purely due to price) is:

    Monte Carlo
    Hard Rock Hotel
    Flamingo
    Trop
    MGM

Basically need it as cheap as possible - dates are 7th-21st July but we are very open to suite hotels or off strip if we have to

Having been to Vegas a few times before and getting married there in 2011 we have 'done' all of the sights but need to go back for our fix!:j:j:j

Help please regulars :T:T:T - we are two mid 30's northerners who love our food, I don't drink (hubby does) and we barely gamble. Will have a car to do all outlets/Walmart/Target/In&Out/Hot&Juicy etc. Budget no more than £60 per night for 10 nights:(
