Hello guys,
getting rather addicted to this site! I'm coming to the end of my 1 year contract with Sky and just looking for some tips on driving down the cost as much as poss.
I phoned them up 2/3 months ago to haggle with them but when I threatened to cancel they said "you're in a 12 month contract so you can't cancel without paying" I just backed off from there was I a bit of a pushover?

Just ring them up at the end of your contract and ask if there are any special offers going to keep your custom.
Ive been with them donkeys years and do it once a year. I have half price Sports for the next 6 months, nice one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
There are no guarantees. You get offered what is available, but as others have found, when no offer is forthcoming, don't paint yourself into a corner and be left with nothing.0

I have not looked into it too much as luckily I got free line rental for a year last year when I threatened to leave :money: however that offer ends at the end of this month so need to try again. My dad told me if you cancel it you can change your mind within the 31 day notice period anyway so if they don't give you anything just cancel it. They will then hopefully call you a few days later and give you a deal and if not you can always just ring them and say you changed your mind. Please check that's correct though!
I priced up Virgin so I could confidently quote the savings made with the cash back offer and had also checked it was available in my area as at first she was very dismissive! Eventually she said she could not match the cashback but offered free line rental for a year which was more than the cash back anyway!:T:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0
