I know one has a legal duty of care towards trespassers.

I wonder if one has a similar duty towards their cars.

Half bury them - get really big ones and bury the bottom half.

This has so annoyed me that for a very reasonable fee I will stand outside your house and scream at anyone trying to drive over your lawn. Failing that, might be worth asking your landlord for help as they won't want people mashing up the lawn.

If it helps we have a brick wall around our front garden which is having to be rebuilt: our neighbour knocked down one side of it, the neighbour over the road then reversed into the front of the wall, and to top it all off someone dropping me off home drove rather too gung-ho into our drive to turn around and knocked over the third, remaining wall. We joke now that our house is like Downton Abbey, as we've got a 'drive through' driveway - only because the wall as been demolished on all three sides!
  • OP - can you upload a picture showing the problem?

    Bollards! :D

This happened to someone who lived across the street from my parents house. Bollards cured the problem.
  • We had a similar-ish problem with vehicles getting 'stuck' in the narrow lane that's in front of our house and trying to do 3 point turns which meant some daft drivers came really close to actually hitting the house.

The solution was 4 very large boulders from the field next door; the farmer and his tractor helped us one morning by dumping the huge stones where we wanted them, and I whitewashed them so they're highly visible.

    Problem solved.

We once had a problem with neighbours constantly driving over our lawn (their drive ran alongside it.) We had small posts and chains put there, all was well until they hit one of them then tried to report us the the planning department as their car had been damaged! (Saying we shouldn't have put them there in the first place).

    So, what happened?

Perhaps put up a sign saying
"Sharp nails and tacks are in the lawn - beware of punctures"
Just the sign, no actual nails etc in the lawn.
