Citroen C5! I've ran one for 2 years and I am very very impressed (have had BMW,Toyota, Lexus, Ford, Vauxhall in the past). It is very Germanic in its build and so far I have had no issues with it, It eats weekends away in Belgium bike racing and the ride is sublime. 55mpg and is a bit different to the standard VW, Audi, Skoda advice which appears on this forum.0

I've looked at that one but there is only one problem with it. I HATE the colour. I don't like beige/ gold or green cars. I'm happy with red, blue, black, silver, grey, red etc but not beige or green.0 -
I think that colour is not too bad in the flesh, but it is not cheap enough for a colour you are not keen on.
check out www.briskoda.net a few come up on there + loads of info on the issues0 -
We have a 08 318i Touring Auto, bought it 12 months ago with 102k miles now has 122k. Servicing and parts from the local independent specialist are reasonable. Does around 30mpg when it's doing the school and shopping runs, 38mpg when it's doing 250 mile trips - can get it to 42mpg if I also drive like a nun.
Having owned three 100k+ BMWs I like the fact they still feel like cars that have done 10k - no squeaks or rattles.

the odd regular one comes up now and then,
one of the problems of looking for a popular car that people like to keep you have to give it time to find a good one especialy if you stay local.0 -

There is no way I'd even consider a VAG car with a DSG out of warranty. Just not worth the risk given its history and eye watering repair/replacement costs.
Google: VAG DSG failures
Honda Accord Diesel is the way to go.0
