my little 6 month old grandson has eczema on his face. it comes out more after a bath, we do not use any bubbly bath only oil based that the doctor advised.
I'm sure other parents children have had a little facial eczema and would like to know what they use to sooth it and get rid of it. There is no other eczema on his body just on the upper left side of his face.
Any advise please

Poor thing. As few baths as possible is probably best. Watch the heat of the water - too warm can aggravate it further. I've heard that a handful of porridge oats tied into a muslin cloth and hung over the bath tap (so that the water runs through the oats) can help massively, and that Magno soap from Spain works wonders too.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
I think this comes under medical advise so the guides will prob either lock it or move it soon!
just be careful about using soaps shampoos etc. when my son had eczema on his scalp we tried everything the doc suggested - but, the only thing which eventually helped was soya oil. I have since been told that rapeseed or olive oil is effective too.0 -
Not giving medical advice here just a pondering with my 3 kids....
Are you sure it is excema and not just chapped skin from the cold (think dribble babies) all my 3 kids had it and a bit of sudacream helped, I also get it on my hands in the winter
However take medical advice and see what they say :-) x0 -

its not dribble, we have taken him to see a doctor, they have told us not to use bubble bath such as johnsons baby bath etc. and only use creams that are oil based, and that goes for bubble bath tooAll the big powers they've silenced me. I got some emollient cream from boots which was suitable for babies. It works quite well. Maybe ask at your local chemist and see what they recommend? Hope you get it sorted soon.0

Sorry, I hope that didn't come across as being a know it all, I just didn't want to give medical advice as its not allowed on here x
One of my kids had excema and were given diprobase cream and oilitum for the bath . Both can be bought from boots or on prescription x0 -
Whatever you do don't let them get any Diprobase in their mouths. It's a very potent laxative.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

Ask your Grandchilds health visitor about Inistol, a good source is cantaloupe melon.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0

poor little darling, you have my sympathies, as a long time sufferer, I eventually gave up on all the medical stuff (after 30 years) and am the better for it. (probably my age - cough)
All my kids were intollerant to any johnsons products but found they were ok with own brand stuff - go figure.
I agree about the porridge oats, but maybe not on the face, and always rinse off.
I found that any type of oil would burn me up when I got warm, but I wish I could remember the big tub of stuff I used to use in the bath, it was a bit like vaseline and the best way to use it was to gently massage it onto the bad areas before getting the bath, and gently soak and rinse.
also I used to get relief bunging a camomile teabag in the bath.
Sorry to say it's all trial and error. I wish you well.

aqueous cream is very good. rub it on, then put him in the bath. be careful, he will be very slippery.0
