Paid JDSpots by paypal not allowed to return goods to shop

Hi

I bought a t-shirt for my son on JD Sports. I did a search for Men / Polo shirts / Medium ad chose a tshirt ordered another item then paid using paypal.

My husband wrapped the t-shirt as it was Xmas present. When my son opened the t-shirt on xmas day it was discovered that the t-shirt was actually a child's medium age 10/11yr.

JD Sports have stated I cannot return the item to store for a refund because I paid by paypal. Apart from being mis-sold a tshirt I am now expected to pay £3 for a refund of a £8 item.

I have been talking to JDSports on Facebook but cannot get anywhere with them

it's because it's possible that you could claim a 2nd refund through paypal, therefore putting jd sports out of pocket.

i'm not for one minute saying you'd do that, but that's probably why they won't let you
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

It's not really mis-sold. I would be surprised if the item description made absolutely no reference to the fact it was a children's shirt.

I suspect you're going to have to pay the £3

  • If the shirt was misdescribed then the retailer should be paying for the return costs, but actually getting them to agree to do this is a different matter.

As it is just a sizing issue, why not see if they will allow you to return the shirt to a store and exchange it for one that will fit.

I'm afraid, unless your receipt says adult Medium on it then this would be down to you, no matter what you searched for I am afraid...

Probably because kids polo shirts are probably cheaper than adult mens? Not to mention the zero rating tax wise ;)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

You have a copy of the email confirming your order for an adult size, of course?

I've had a look at the website (there's more info on FB about it), and having looked at the cached version of the page and the current one, JD Sports have changed the listing from S/ M/ L etc to 10/11 years and so on. That says to me they know they have messed up. ;)

They'd still have to return it at their expenses.
