parking near Hyde park

Hi all,

Probably have left this a little late.

We are staying in London near Hyde park and we were wandering if there is any free you can park. Will there be wardens working new years eve and new years day?!

Are all the roads controlled parking zones near by, or are there any other reasonable car parks near by?!

Many thanks.

Try this site for enforcement in Westminster Council area

    http://www.westminster.gov.uk/services/transportandstreets/parking/zones/bankholidays/

And Google for car parks - there's quite a few, they cost a fortune.

    Congestion charges - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/congestioncharging/

I think last time I had to park round there the cheapest was the one under Hyde Park, I say "cheap" I mean "least ridiculously expensive".
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

IIRC the meter parking is free on Bank holidays including New Years Day. That just leaves the Eve - it depends what time you are going in but if you can find a 4-hour meter (most are only 2 hours max) then it will be £16. For comparison the underground NCP in Cadogan Square is £33 for 4 hours, they *almost* had me a couple of days ago but I managed a 3-pointer and away sharpish!

I don't imagine you will find anywhere within several miles of Hyde Park that is free, but you'd have to be mad to take your car into central London anyway. MSE has a page about finding free parking in London:

  • Thanks guys,

    Some amazing advice.

The trouble is we are looking to stay arrive at around 12 pm on a metre this only gives us around 4 hours we are staying overnight!!!

Does any one know the nearest unrestricted zone...?!

I have heard Hounslow is good but I was wandering if there is anything nearer!!!

    Thanks again all!!!

    To the East!
  • or failing parking near Hyde park we were thinking of perhaps parking somewhere on the outskirts and catching the tube in.

So if any one could reccomend somewhere easy to park which is accessible it would be appreciated!!!

If you arrive in London after 2:30pm NYE, you should be able to find somewhere with 4 hour meters to take you straight in to free parking at 6:30pm on NYE, right through to 8:30am on 2nd Jan.

I would suggest up from Oxford Street around Regents Park & St Johns Wood. These are also safer areas.

Most inner London boroughs now have little or no free on-street parking. Most outer London boroughs still do. Just consult the CPZ map for the borough you will travel through from where you are coming from.

Which direction are you coming from?
