I'm working NYE, hospitality doesn't lend itself to time off at this time of year!!

  • Wow..you're brave!

It's actually a lot of fun, we are out every Saturday night and before Christmas we were out on 21, 22, 23 and 24 December. We are taking cake, sausage rolls and other stuff so we can have a little snack. It's going to be mega busy but we have a real laugh and you get a sense of really achieving something.

I have learnt some very useful first aid skills and we save the local ambulance a lot of calls, as well as keeping drunken people out of police cells. As long as you aren't squeamish you are ok as drunken people often lose control at all ends!
  • I'm working tomorrow and Tuesday 9.30-4 but as I've been off 13 days I can't really complain as nye isn't a biggy for me, I'd prefer to be off Christmas x
  • I am not working as I am on maternity leave, my hubby is though, he will be home on 11.45pm on NYE so that's good enough for us to see in the new year then off to bed.

I thinks all shops should be shut on New Years Day.

Why? It's only a BANK holiday and only has been in England since 1974.

Bank holidays are not a statutory right.
