Connecting Bose to cd hi-fi

We have a Bose speaker system which we connected to our old CD player via the headphones socket. We have today bought a new CD player with iPod dock etc but the problem is that the Bose speaker lead only connects to the aux connection which means that when we put the new CD player on cd or iPod or radio it doesn't play out of the Bose speakers.

We ave set it up with the speakers which came with the CD player but ideally we would like to use the Bose. Does anyone know if there is a connection or lead I can buy as think I will need to connect the Bose to the speaker sockets on the CD player and it doesn't fit.

I would guess the Aux socket is an Input, not an Output so connecting speakers to it isn't going to work. What is the make/model of the new CD player ?

What type of speaker connections does the new CD player have ?

    It's a Sandstrom SDABTIP12

Don't know how to describe them but like moulded two part plastic connection

The Sandstrom appears to be supplied with two speakers, and is designed to work with them. Why would you want to play it through a Bose speaker system?

More to the point, why buy an all-in-one HiFi WITH speakers when what you really wanted in the first place was a source component to plug into the Bose?

You will need to identify and tell us the type of connection the CD player has for the speakers and what type of connection your Bose speakers have to then work out the connector/adaptor you need (will almost certainly be possible).

Can you post a picture ?

Does the Sandstrom have no headphone socket ?

If the Bose worked OK with the headphone socket, you'd be very foolish to connect it directly to the speaker outputs of the Sandstrom......

The Bose is obviously an amplifier/speaker combo which will work off a line-level signal; unless the Sandstrom has a headphone socket, Tape Out or similar, it's not looking likely....

You would need a line output, or connect the Bose Speakers directly to the speaker connections on the micro system. What is the model of the Bose speaker system?

Don't advise the OP to do this, as he'll connect the line level input of the Bose system, not the speakers isolated from the system, to the speaker outputs from the Sandstrom, and will end up doing serious damage to the Bose system....

Thank you for your advice. It is a Bose amplifier system with speakers that you can plug your iPod into. It worked well on the old CD player through the headphone jack but the CD player stopped working.
Seems we will either need to take the new system back and buy one with a headphone socket or keep the new one and play it through the speakers which came with it and not use the Bose.

Good point, OP is not up to the task, wonder why they bought a micro system when what they needed was a component CD player? Though there seem a rarety these days.

Shirley it would be easier to convert all the CDs to MP3 load them on the ipod and throw the CDs away, or sell them
