I thought MSE was ad free?
Ads for Currys and the like appearing right at the very bottom of certain pages.
Those are new, aren't they?
I assume things wont be staying the same as pre takeover after all then?

Nope. I see no adverts on any of those.
Sounds like you could have some adware/malware on your PC that is inserting ads?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yep. There are nasties out there that insert contextual or random advertising into the webpages of popular sites.
They can be difficult to get rid of or even detect with many scans. If you have no luck I would ask on the Techie forum.
I've tried in 4 different browsers and 2 laptops, and see I no ads.
Now I know my computers are clean of any adware that Windows users might pick up, as they are running Linux ATM. So if I see nothing, then it's usually a good sign that someone's copy of Windows has aquired some nasty little ad serving invader.
(NB: Also tried in a clean Windows VM. No adds there either)Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

It seems the ad culprit is the 'Auto Refresh' Chrome extension.
Apologies MSE.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I find Opera runs sweet and trouble free. I've set pop-up blocker and never have unwanted ads except those that are part and parcel of some sites. :ABe careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
