I'......
My system is based mainly on my email system.
Items get sold and both the ebay notice of sale and the paypal payment get auto-filtered to a special "sold" folder.
.
I do exactly the same and then just drag them from the sold folder to a folder i made called despatched and mark them despatched immediately before I take them to the post boxWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
id prefer it marked sent after its actually physically gone in po and been paid and sent. i wouldnt mark seller down though unless it was a it was a big delay
I've been one who mentioned that I don't like things being marked dispatched when they haven't gone to the PO.
If it's only one days difference I wouldn't mark the seller down, it's when it's several days difference, I'd probably give them 4 stars and not the full 5.
On the other hand there's sellers who don't mark the item dispatched at all. I bought something from a private seller with an auction ending last Sunday, and it hasn't been marked as disptached yet. I know it's been Christmas etc, but I have no idea whats going on. I could understand a business being closed, but you'd think a private seller would time the end of an auction to fit in with their posting schedule. I'll give them until after the new year, and then enquire.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I use Paypal postage so it marks it as despatched when the label is printed. All this weekends sales will be printed off (so therefore marked as despatched) and then posted tomorrow.
I think I'm at 4.95 for despatch time. As a buyer, it is one that I rarely mark down anyway, as long as the item is sent quickly it's 5 stars, then if it's really slow/not received it might be a 3.0 -
this is what I meant really, all my overseas ones and standard parcels have been printed out via PayPal and automatically get marked as dispatched on eBay. Makes it easy to see what else I have to wrap. However it means the buyer sees these as 'dispatched ' the day before they actually go to the post office . However I am easily maintaining 4.96 stars so it doesn't appear to be a problem so maybe I should just mark the manually stamped ones dispatched as well.I use Paypal postage so it marks it as despatched when the label is printed. Just as I was typing my message about the person that hasn't marked last Sunday's purchase as dispatched...... I had an email to say that it's been sent!
Maybe they are using Paypal postage, as it won't fit in the letter box and the post office isn't open on Sundays
At least I know what's going on nowEarly retired - 18th December 2014

1 Mark the items as despatched immediately before you put it in the post box then the buyer knows when it has actually been despatched
2 Mark the items as despatched immediately before you put it in the post box then you know exactly when the item was despatched
Easy
Thats how I always do it
I don't reallyneed to know when they are dispatched as that shows on my POPs. My problem is the with multiple identical sales I make as I wrap a few at a time so have to make notes as to which are wrapped and which have had dispatch emails sent.
If I go back to marking them dispatched as I wrap, I find it easier to keep an eye on what I am doing and it saves a great deal of time double checking duplicate addresses.
So, I sell 2 widgets, I wrap, them, I send a dispatch note and mark them dispatched and put them in the sack. I go back to the sold screen a few hours later and any that show as paid but not dispatched have to be new orders, so I can go and wrap them, send email and mark as dispatched. I always know what is left to wrap just by looking at what doesn't show as dispatched.
For one off items it is easier as I remember wrapping a huge great Chinese vase or whatever, but for my bread and butter BIN items it can get confusingI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think the as described star is the biggie really in a buyers eyes. I think it's the hardest to get 5's on.
As a buyer, as long as the item is as described then the despatch time doesn't really bother me as long as it isn't two weeks. P&P is another important one - was that reasonable? I only mark down for communication if they don't reply to messages.
Obviously there are buyers who think differently, as reflected in the other thread that is running at the moment!0 -
I did not know when sending via PayPal postage it marks it as dispatched upon printing, I will bear this in mind in the future.
I sell so little that everything gets done at the PO and then I mark sent when I get home.0 -
When I have packaged everything paid for up and am on the point of despatching the paid for items, I check what eBay is indicating to despatch with what I'm about to take to the PO and confirm on eBay in each case that the items are despatched and leave feedback confirming this.
Everything is despatched the same day as it is shown to be on eBay, which helps me keep track of what's outstanding and what's newly paid for and needs despatching next day. I have despatched 40-50 items in one go and have never had any manual errors of sending the wrong item and/or to the wrong place."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

Soolin,
My items are mainly auction and finish on a Sunday evening. I start by sealing up every item that has already sold or has bids and will sell so I might have 18 items sold on eBay and will have 18 sold items packaged up.
I don't bother with Paypal invoice slips anymore. I simply write a signed one liner of thanks and seal this in the package with the item, then write what's in it in the top right-hand corner of the envelope (which will be under the stamps).
As the payments come in, I transfer each buyer's Paypal address to the correct package, so for Monday, I might have 12 paid for items, ready to go and 6 unaddressed packages, waiting for payment.
I do a final check of what's paid for according to eBay and what I've got ready to post - the list should match... then mark all to go as despatched and off to the Post Office!"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.
