I love animals and will happily take on other peopls problem pets.
But there is NOTHING charatible about the RSPCA apart from the fools who donate to the £18,000,000 they have in the bank at Head Office. Fact.0 -
Upon visiting Dog Rescue Centres, its easy to see that the vast majority of its inhabitants are Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Mastiffs and their types.
I see things very plainly, probably too plainly, and I dont understand why there cannot be a law put in place, that every owner of these types of dogs are forced (by whatever means)to have them neutered ... Plain as !!!Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.0 -

50,000 of them? Kudos to you!0 -
.. and people who are classed as "unsuitable to adopt" by UK shelters - bring rescue animals from foreign shelters... and local ones are PTS as "no suitable homes"
total utter nonsense, too strict rules for "adoptions" and animals pay for it with their lives0 -
For several reasons I am far from a fan of the RSPCA however there are just too many dogs and cats in rescue in this country and there is no way they can ever all be rehomed. If money allowed they could spend their lives in rescue but is that really much of a life?
The people in this country are responsible for so many unwanted animals - nation of dog lovers - don't make me laugh.
People don't give enough thought to taking on a pet and, if they keep the animal, often don't give enough or any thought into getting that animal neutered - just look at all the ads on places like Gumtree for kittens and puppies (often given away free).
I appreciate that sometimes an animal is given up for a good reason but on the whole they are given up because the owner cannot be bothered. I know a couple of people who got puppies but then put them in rescue after only a couple of months because they chewed, or messed indoors, or got them up in the night - I could make a long list of ridiculous and sad reasons. I also know two people at present with puppies, one 6 months old and one 8 months old who have not been vaccinated because the owners can't afford it and therefore have never been out and socialised. If those poor dogs ever get vaccinated and start to go out they will have problems with other dogs, children, people etc etc and there is a good chance they too will end up in rescue. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

Are they eligible under PDSA?
Possibly. I don't know either of the people very well but I will see if I can try and get word to them about it.
I can't help wondering though if you can't afford to get a puppy vaccinated how you think you can afford a dog!The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
I honestly think now that people should have to have a licence to breed any animal or face a very heavy fine when caught. I know thats never going to happen, I just wish it was compulsory to have every animal neutered, unless that animal is with a registered breeder.
I'm not a fan of the RSPCA at all but I don't know what else they can do, but its very sadTreat other's how you like to be treated.

I wish the laws were the same in the UK as they are in America - have you ever watched the animal programs over there? They get a warrant, siezures, Court cases, huge fines.
What do people get in the UK for keeoing an animal in poor living conditions - a slap on the wrist.
I reported one guy near me as a puppy farm. I'd spotted his adverts online for various stud dogs, so made an excuse to get in his house by taking one of my !!!!!es (who had been spayed) to see aboiut a mating.
I was horrified at what I saw: his living room had 14 dog cages. His kitchen was the same, as was the dining room.
All his dogs were living in the cages. They had a small piece of carpet for a bed and the food bowls was anything that would hold food/water - ashtrays !!!!!!!
We then got onto chatting about other animals: cats, rabbits etc - turns out he breeds them too!
Long story short, there was close to 100 animals in his house.
Contacted the local Council who said its nothing to do with them. Contacted RSPCA, they made a visit and told him off. End of.
It's disgusting at the lack of powers the RSPCA have when it comes to animal cuelty.
Yet they are more than happy to have hundreds of healthy dogs PTS.
People only breed/stud their dogs for the money. Nothing more, nothing less.
Every house should have a licence a bit like VED. If you have a car. you pay VED. If you have an animal, you pay a fee each year.
It should be a big fee as it will cut down the amount of people whi just buy a dog to breed.
I have four dogs and would happily pay a licence fee for each of them every year.
Rant over and slightly off topic lol.0 -

I very much doubt that anyone who works for the RSPCA is "happy" to put any dog to sleep.0
