From bbc website:
Ephedrine is a stimulant that speeds up the heart and the nervous system and is often found in herbal and diet pills. Its common side-effects include a racing heart, dry mouth and muscle spasms. Find out more...
What is it?
Ephedrine is a stimulant that speeds up the heart and nervous system.
It comes from a shrubby plant known as Ephedra sinensis. The shrub is well known to Chinese herbalists who call it 'Ma Huang'.
Pills and potions containing Ephedra or Ma Huang are sold as herbal E, as dietary aids and as remedies to increase energy and enhance fitness training.
Synthetic ephedrine is used in several cold medicines that you can buy at any chemist.
Crystal meth can be made from ephedrine.
How does it make you feel?
Ephedrine makes you alert and focused. It might send shivers up and down your spine, make your skin sensitive and give you a really confident, happy feeling.
Too much ephedrine can make you anxious. You may get a racing heart, dry mouth and muscle spasms.
What are the health effects?
Small amounts of ephedrine are used in cold remedies because it relaxes the airways and makes breathing easier.
Ephedrine raises heart rate and blood pressure. Long-term use can lead to heart attack and stroke in healthy people. It is very risky for anyone who has heart problems.
The law
At the moment it is legal to possess small amounts of ephedrine. It is contained in many cold and asthma remedies available in chemist shops.
The Medicines and Healthcare Products Control Agency have proposed making it a prescription-only drug. Their aim is to make unprescribed ephedrine illegal.0 -

My guess would be because the forum rules don't permit advocating illegal activity.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
How are you doing this week TDMMDI? How's the diet and exercise?
I've made a real effort not to have choc and crisps at work and no coffee either, just green tea.
Looking forward to the gym at the weekend, don't get a chance to go after work.0 -
Jox..thanks for asking:
I've actually nearly lost 3lbs. I haven't been to the gym for nearly a week & have just concentrated on walking the dog.
I do intend going to the gym still, but will mainly be using the weights as I still need to keep trying to tone my body.
As for diet, I've actually stopped concentrating on that. However, I have been mentally counting weight watchers points & not going over what would be my daily allowance. I use the old weight watchers system because ages ago someone give me a points book and one of those paper calculator things.
As for supplements, I have bought some CLA capsules & Green Tea extract capsules. A friend recommended them to me & she has been having great success taking them, so I thought I'd give them a try.
How are you finding cutting out the crisps/choc & the coffee? I don't drink coffee or eat crisps. I have been allowing myself a small treat pack of chocolate buttons lol.0 -
That's great news, you sound much more positive, I'm happy for you

I made an effort to reduce my sugar intake last weekend as I was having about 4 coffees a day and 2 sugars in each and then a choc bar and a packet of crisps and a tracker bar, I was feel sicky and bloated and dizzy and depressed with myself. I've been having meals with protein, salad and a carb like couscous or brown rice since the weekend.
I feel proud that I've managed almost a week without self-sabotaging for a change.
Work is a bit boring so the choc and crisps were something to do to pass the time and liven things up for me, but I'm enjoying the green tea instead and have some almonds and dried apricots to snack on instead.
Can't wait for the weekend to have a big sesh at the gym!0 -
Yup..you should feel very proud of yourself. You have done well.
It is very difficult to keep motivated if you ain't seeing any results. As much as I want to tone up my body, I really wanted to see some change on the scales too.
I think people were right..I was probably doing too much exercise & maybe cutting out the cardio at the gym has helped.
Problem with trying to lose weight, is when something works you can't put your finger on what it is & when things your doing ain't working for you, it's again hard to know what your doing wrong.0
