I live just a few miles from Porthcawl and the Trecco Bay site is really nice. If the weather is nice then it'll be perfect for the beach. Nearby there is Margam Park which also has a little farm area (kids love it), St Fagans Museum of Welsh Life is another place I'd recommend (it's in Cardiff). Porthcawl isn't far from Cardiff and Swansea, but also nearby in Bridgend is the designer outlet and Odeon cinema. The stepping stones across the river are at Merthyr Mawr, which also has pretty little thatched cottages. There is the castle ruins at Ogmore by Sea and also Coity Castle. Southerndown is nice too. Rest Bay in Porthcawl is good for surfing. Bryngarw Park is another good place for walking.
Hope you enjoy and the weather is good for you!0
