Parking in Disabled bays

Just do it, if you need to. and let the store know at the customer services desk, or upon entering.
if they are running the car park correctly there shouldnt be a problem, as long as you arent obstructing traffic, or parking in such a way as to cause a safety issue.
In fact if they are realy doing the car park job right they should be able to find you an appropiate space/ area to park.
I beleive that this could be termed making a reasonable adjustment, and in my opinion that would be a better solution to the disabled parking area ghetto thats not always in the best place - thats often seen in many supermarket car parks.
One disabled parking area which i saw was on a sloping part of the car park, the flat part was further to the door, but it would be more apropiate to use that for disabled parking.
I know what you're saying is right but don't think I could do it
I have seen some badly placed disabled bays too. Also, why are parent and child spaces closer to the store than some disabled? If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. - Mark TwainNappies and government ministers need to be changed frequently and for the same reason0 -
Or if disabled person is not the driver, park as close to the door as possible, let out the disabled person and then driver can go and find a parking space elsewhere.0

Why not? You are absolutely entitled to do something like this as a "reasonable adjustment" under the Equality Act.
And if its any help, the last time my work had a visit from a prominent disabled politician, we were informed clearly in advance that we needed to have two disabled spaces or two appropriately convenient normal spaces kept free near the main door to accommodate their particular movement requirements.0 -

I am sure I would be entitled to but I would be frightened to.
Too many people are ignorant to the genuine needs of othersIf you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. - Mark TwainNappies and government ministers need to be changed frequently and for the same reason0 -

I used t be like that, probably like you I always want to do the "right thing" and also not make a fuss.
But we have such trouble finding spaces with suitable access for Mum and her walking frame or wheelchair, that to be honest I don't care anymore. I make every effort to find a blue badge space, we drive round town 2 or 3 times sometimes, checking all the BB spots. I finally give up and park on double yellows or private spaces behind shops, just so Mum and I can actually go into town once a week. I always park safely & thoughtfully, making sure I don't cause an obstruction, hazard or inconvenience :A. We go on a Sunday so hopefully the council is less likely to monitor parking ?
We are more or less resigned to the fact that we will pick up pcn's from time to time and as long as they are not frequent we just have to pay them as the cost of getting Mum out of the house and having a normal life for 2 hours a week.
Touch wood we've only had one parking ticket in the last 6 months and I got that cancelled because the meter maid got my registration number wrong by one digit. Karma. :rotfl:

Considering the supermarkets parking contractors WILL ticked vehicles not displaying a BB, they are doing something. But as most will treat it with contempt and refuse to pay on principe, what more do you expect them to do?
Scotland is introducing fines for those who abuse this on private car parks - I suggest you ask your MP to follow this same example.0 -

As someone said a day or two ago, this is already in place in Scotland has been for a number of years. And only a couple of private car parks have taken up the initiative.0 -

The problem with that is one they are obviously not fines! Two yes people do take the michael as those images on the paper show! Three what about all the times he goes to this asda and finds nobody doing this? And finally is he some kind of psychic, how does he know that all the people using these bays are considered disabled under the equalities act? You don't need a blue badge to use private disabled baysWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.
