An electric fire you turn off and its cold very very very quickly.
Gas radiators will still hold the heat for an hour.

When I use my electric water heater, I barely got a bath out of it.

Serving, well mine is done free every year. But friends who have it installed privately not that expensive for a one off each year.

Your really are the only person who seems to like E7, and to be honest not convincing anyone on here its the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I never wanted gas in the first place, but after 10 years with it cannot believe how much I rate it.
Get an oil filled radiator if you want lasting heat after the thermostat turns it off. I though we were talking about E7 heating where the heat is stored in bricks overnight and released during the day. They don't stop emitting heat immediately. I never said best thing since sliced bread it's just the savings are not huge especially in a small property. A large property will be better off with gas central heating.

Not sure how or why you only get a small amount of water from the immersion heater in the cylinder. The immersion heater (3kW) heats exactly the same amount of water as a gas boiler does but takes quite a while i.e overnight to heat it. Usually an E7 cylinder is larger (usually 210 litres) than a cylinder installed for a gas boiler or a combi boiler is installed a a rating of 24kW or above. Are you telling me that a gas boiler rated at 24kW uses less energy overall than an immersion heater rated at 3kW?

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Phoenix have yet again moved the goal posts, having done so now 3 times. The last quota of residents willing to express an interest before Phoenix would commit has been reached, and they are now saying that is not enough. Funnily enough this time they have NOT said how many they now require!! Meanwhile people who are desperate to move away from E7 and urgently want an alternative form of heating are left high and dry. Very annoying when Phoenix are already in the immediate vicinity. I understand they are a "commercial" company and are there to make a profit, but it is their failure to be up front and open at the start about the numbers of owners they need to express an interest which infuriates people.

Are there any honourable firms left out there? Based on our experiences with the wood burning stove company, and now Phoenix, it would seem unlikely.

I do wish people would stop 'sniping' at each other. I started this thread, like most people because I was looking for general advice and opinions from people with similar experiences. I obviously don't know exactly what Donna2588 was getting at specifically, only she can tell us, but maybe if the double glazing she refers to was installed a long time ago, it may not be up to today's standards. When I bought my current house in the 80's it had "secondary glazing" which was not much use.

I would be very interested now, in finding out if any others feel they have been misled or let down by Phoenix, whose attitude now seems to be "It's not our problem" even though their criteria was met various times and they kept moving the goalposts. Misleading to say the very least.

What they do is just take out the old glass put in two sheets of glass with a with a gap between and rubber round the the frame. I swear when the winds blows a certain direction I have a draft. Oh and NIHE always go with the cheapest contractor, who cocks it up and you end up with a different one finishing of the job.
