Lamewolf I'm not sure there were any Windows 7 laptops in the shop, there definitely weren't any in the sale. We didn't even look at the full price ones. I prefer XP over all the others TBH.
Ooh, that's not good, specially if Windows 8 is going to turn out to be a turkey!:( We have a 10 year old pc with XP, which I agree, was a really good operating system, but they don't offer it anywhere any more. I've had my Windows 7 netbook for about three years; the Windows 7 laptop is a 2nd hand one from Mr LW's work, but the other pc, the new gaming one, we only got a few weeks ago, and we had a choice of Windows 7 or Windows 8, depending on which model we went for.
Now, I know blasting into MSE-dom with a hundred good intentions is likely to mean that after a week I fall down sobbing with the weight of the world on my financial shoulders.
Should you fall down sobbing, rest assured, one of us will hold out a paw to help you up.;) Welcome!:o

Redruby I hope your mum is OK.

Jools Have a (((HUG))) Thepaperwork and legal stuff must seem awful - do you have anyone who can help with it, or at least be there for you to offload onto?

Daisy Dog has gone home; I think she'd have liked to have stayed!:D Hopefully we might get her again another time; meanwhile, I have no further bookings, so am unfortunately bereft of anything to look forward to.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Lamewolf, do you take bookings through a separate company, or is it your own business? I don't even have a dog yet, but am hoping to bite the bullet next year (been thinking about it years!) and am localish to you, and you sound great! Before you think I'm a weird stalker (I'm really not!) I did used to post quite reguarly on OS but haven't for ages as don't really think I'm OS enough. :o I do read every day though.

Anyway, just thought I would ask the question, nothing like being prepared in advance! :rotfl:We generally go on one "big" holiday a year, so I obviously need to factor that into our dog plans. We also camp a lot, but hope to take the dog with us if and when it happens.

Hi Ladyshopper no, I don't take the bookings myself; I'm just a host for a nationwide franchise operation; the franchisee for this area takes all the bookings, then locates the dogs with the host she feels would be most suited to the individual dog concerned.

It works well for me, as I'm as happy as Larry around dogs, but have severe social phobia so I couldn't cope with dealing with all the different owners myself; she does all that, also she's insured and has all the vet contacts etc, if I have any problems with a guest dog, I just have to call her and she will deal with the problem (not happened yet, touch wood).

Feel free to pm me if you want any more info - I'll be back online sometime tomorrow (about to log off and go do my Brain Training);)

Just read Jools' post. That cheque for the mortgage must be be most welcome, and they've really given a good service, when you consider the time of year.

Reading your posts, you come across as a very strong person. I really admire the way you are facing up to everything. Yet at the same time you are very human, sometimes up sometimes down.

I've lost both my parents, so I can have a small idea of what you are going through. All I can say is one day at a time, and there's no 'right' way to do things, just your way.

  • (((Jools))) lots of love to you. Glad the mortgage is sorted. I know money wont change anything, but it will make things easier. xxx

    Echo, welcome to you. x

Today we have been to lakeside shopping centre. We went early to avoid the crowds. Bought some birthday presents for himself. One was v expensive from Game, but they didn't have an older version of the game he wanted. When we left, the queues to get into the shopping centre car parks were miles long. Tbh, I looked in a few of the sales (Next & Boots) and the sales weren't that good. I resisted the Clinique counter. :T

We've still got left overs for tea.
Tomorrow am taking the older 2 to see Cinderella pantomime. We've got Shane Richie again this year. He was funny last year. He has filming commitments so it's only on for 2 weeks this year. I get the cheap seat, we are up high. But have a really good view as there are no heads in our way! Don't intend to spend any money there as the kids have loads of Xmas sweets left that they can take.

We still have our Christmas stuff up. Been up since the 2nd of Dec. will prob keep it all up till next weekend. The toddler loves the Christmas lights. He is still resisting potty training. I got him the pirate pete book. I forget who recommended it to me, it was someone in here. Anyway, he loves the book and fully understands what pirate pete does.but he Will Not use e potty/toilet. He's going to be 4 in April. Sigh.

The housework has slipped this last week so need to get back into a routine tomorrow. Have done a meal plan to start from Monday. Will be back into the normal routine a bit from Monday. Except for the children being home! ;) Will go to Aldi tomorrow for my big shop. Himself can look after the kids so I can shop in peace!
    take care all

Love (((hugs))) and spoons to those who want or need

  • Jools I am so glad that you managed to have a small celebration in the circumstances. I hope that you can sort the insurance company out soon and that the mortgage is paid, that is a huge financial commitment sorted ((((Hugs)))) x x x.

Welcome Echo :santa2: Very supportive lot on here.
Had such a busy few days, we hit the sales, found them to be very disappointing this year :( but I have managed to get quite a few presents for next year plus cards, crackers, paper and tags. I had to change a few presents that didn't fit and got what I actually liked.

Got two joints of ham reduced from £7 to £3.50 each dated 2 Jan in Tesco that DH has got to slice and freeze tonight and a huge joint of beef for £15 that has been cut into four joints.

We went into B&M and I picked up some more wool. I intend to knit a lot of presents for next Christmas.

Got some lovely half priceT shirts for DS and a jumper for DH in Asda.

Pressies for the old ladies that we buy for every year and our neighbours who are great friends plus one for DD and one for DS in Boots.

Got DH some Nike trainers in sports direct for £22 and a pack of three batman pj bottoms for £15.

That was from my sistercas fund ( I only had to use £100 this year because I had already got most of the stuff throughout the year) I still have £100 left so that is going away in a separate BS account towards my log burner. I have put £10 in the new fund so I am well on my way :D
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
