Morning all, and hello to Echo. As a newbie myself, I can confirm that the OS people are very welcoming, and this is a nice place to hang out.
We've just popped out to get a few bits and pieces. The good thing about Christmas is that the cupboards are full with food, so there is very little that needs to be bought.
I'm now going to tackle the ironing pile and will do some eBay listing this afternoon, mainly relists, so won't take too long.
Have a good day, folksEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Morning all
Been a tough few days, kids and I have managed a few smiles and laughs along the way, but doesn't take much to set us off again. Postie just brought a pile of mail, includung a cheque from one insurance company to pay off the morgage, and a letter from another demanding a list of all Iain's surviving relatives so they can decide who to pay a pension fund to, the joys of never getting married and him never writing a will, despite all my nagging! I was named as beneficiary but apparently they don't need to honour that. At a time like this, don't really give a monkeys, money can't put our lives back together or give us another day together!
Anyways rant over, am going to take my mood out on the mountain of ironing I have been going to bash all week!RIP Iain

Welcomeecho. It's lovely here
Just back from taking dd2 driving , I only had to grab the steering wheel once
Bread to make and another tidy up , I don't know where all the mess comes from
I noticed some flooding while we were out , I hope the rain ceases it must be awful for some people0 -
Morning all,
Welcome to echo x
Wet and windy here too, I have the wm on with a white load, and another to go in, they will have to go on the airer.
Spent yesterday in A & E with my mum, she has a huge lump come up on her back where her kidney used to be, she also had the worst backache ever and could hardly walk, they kept her in last night and have done loads of tests, so we may find out a bit more today, she was comfortable in a bed when we left, fingers crossed she is ok.
Did not get back from hospital till late, so we had fish and chips, it was very nice too, not sure whats for tonight, pasta maybe.
I need to go and see my dad today, we have not told him about mum as it would upset him. My sis will probably go and see mum.
Other than that I need to have a tidy round, and do an online shop.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
jools it must have been so hard for you all this last week or so (((hugs))).Glad you had a few smiles and laughs. All the legal stuff you have to deal with just makes it all the harder-when you really feel like doing nothing at all there are all the forms to fill in and letters to write.I hope it gets sorted soon.
Having a lazy morning ,then off to the match this aft-hoping being outside will blow some germs away.I think I've stopped sneezing quite as much.DS1 had to visit the dentist for an emergency appt yesterday-his face swelled up like a hamster with mumps. He didnt get to see our own dentist ,but he's got antibios, and she repaired a filling, but thinks its a wisdom tooth prob so just have to see how it goes.
Chops and chips for tea, need something quick and easy as we're picking DGD up on the way home from the match. We were going to call at some friends but as I'm still snotty it wouldnt be fair, grrr feel like I haven't seen them for ages.Ah well cant be helped, hopefully gone for New Year.
Love & hugs to all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning (just about
)
Vile weather here. High winds overnight, more rain (meh) got soaked walking Luna this morning and thoroughly chilled. Slept well but would prefer to crawl into bed with cuppa and biscuits and hibernate
Having a tidy round, hand washing up and then off round to my parents this aft as my brother and his kids are visiting. Gives cousins a chance to play together especially needed since my two are crawling the walls
Didn't have chow mein last night so will be having that instead if I can be bothered to pop out and get chicken
Hugs and spoons all round xxx
Jools hugs for you. I know you said they don't have to honour where his pension goes but does that mean they won't honour his wishes?
Redruby hope you mum is OK get well vibes for her xxxx
Echo welcome
JC nice to see you back

Just logged in because of Jool's post. That's standard procedure lovely, I am married to my OH, but he still had to nominate me as beneficiary. And still the wording on his pension said they do not have to go with his wishes. It's just to cover situations like someone nominating their new mistress and disinheriting their former partner and kids for example. I know you don't give a stuff about the money at the moment, but you will need it, and I'd say I'm 99.9999 % sure you will get it. Glad to hear you managed some smiles over Christmas, I'd bet my life that's what Iain would want. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Good afternoon everyone

Horrible weather again here but I need to get wrapped up and get outside to blow some cobwebs away.
Have just cut my hair and it's shorter than I intended as I couldn't get one side even. Oh well at least it's curly which hides a multitude of sins!
I have to invent something for dinner with the left over bits of fish from sushi last night. There is cream in the fridge so I think it may be a pasta sauce of some variety or other.
Welcome to Echo, this is a lovely friendly place and everyone makes you feel at home here.
Jools it is good to see you posting, I hope all these issues are soon resolved. We had very similar problems when my father died and the stress of this is the last thing you need.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day

Hello everyone.
Jools - sounds like you are having lots of stress with the pension provider. At least being able to pay off your mortgage will be one less stress on your mind - my thoughts are still with you all - especially your children - I was 18 when my dad died so I can empathise with the sadness and confusion they must be feeling xx
Had a couple of very quiet days. Finished a crochet cushion cover for my BF and getting close to finishing one for me. I have twin cousins and both of their wives are expecting baby girls in the summer so I have been asked for a couple of baby blankets :-)
Still loving my new breadmaker, but wish the bread would stay fresher - anyone have any tips?
Off to BF's dad's house later for tea - yummy!
I get paid on Monday - cant wait! I really need the money! I got promoted back in October but it took a while for HR to change my wages, so last month I got it all backdated but all that went on Christmas and a trip away we took a fortnight ago. My resolution for 2013 is to be much more organised with my money and save some!
I'm saving up for a laptop or iPad - I can't decide which would be better for me, but I do know that I want to pay for it outright whatever I get!
Hope you all have a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Hi all
((Hugs)) to Jooles - just take care of yourselves, the legal side will sort itself out.
Hi newbies - come on in and pull up a chair
OH went for a quick drink with his mates last night, crawed back at 1 am a tad tipsy.... He,s a little bit jaded this morning/afternoon so another PJ day in front of the usual Christmas films LOL
No kids again, but have a poorly 17 YO cat throwing up and a 15 YO Westie who appears to have sprung a leak, lots of mopping up going on - hey ho they appear to be okay now.
WM on, ironing to do, but CBA right now, it,ll wait
Dinner tonight will be a prawn curry, if OH is upto it, if not will go fridge foraging...
Weather awfull, rain is nearly horizontal going past the window, but the woodburner is on and I don,t need to go out, so its not so bad.
Have a great day all xxNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
