Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 29th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all
I'm sure I must have started a dulicate daily thread, but I couldn't fine another, so feel free to delete this one.
It's not raining here yet, though it looks like it might start soon.
DS finally got paid, a week late, what a time to make a mistake with payroll, funny how they were suddenly able to sort it out when the whole workforce downed tools.
No plans for today apart from another walk to look at the local floods, we are still on flood warning.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning :santa2:
It's hammering down and really windy. I've put the rubbish by the door but there's no way I'm going outside to the bin :D

Went shopping with my Morrison's voucher, bought £87.37 worth for £52.41

I've made one and a half wrist warmers. The first one is fine, the second one seems to have magically got wider :rotfl: Only by one stitch, so I'm hoping to get away with it. Love yours BB :T Do you have a link to the pattern?

Lamewolf I'm not sure there were any Windows 7 laptops in the shop, there definitely weren't any in the sale. We didn't even look at the full price ones. I prefer XP over all the others TBH.

Mr tru brought home loads of old paperwork, so I'll be ripping out staples and shredding today. How exciting :D

Morning

Dd2 wants to go out driving but it's really not the weather for it  however I promised to take her and she's desperate lol so i'll take her locally

Slept on the sofa with the cat last night as dh was snoring. So feeling tired

Need to tidy up , think of something for tea , take dd2 to work later then nip to the sm for some bits

Have a good day everyone xx
• Good morning all,
Very windy here. I don't think it will be long before it rains, the sky looks full of it.
Hester, glad your ds got paid.
Dd's got to go back to the dermatologist in 6 weeks time to have her other eyebrow injected. They only do one at a time to see if there will be any growth. She said that it did hurt. Her eyebrow is still very swollen today. I won't go into detail but it was fascinating to watch.
Ironing to do today, again. Never ending in this house.
Tea tonight is chicken breasts that will be coated in breadcrumbs with hm wedges and salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning all,
DH woke me at 4.45 with his snoring, got up at 5.30 so I've put bm on and cleaned the kitchen, sorted out the fridge and washed the floor.
really fancy hm fish, chips and salad tonight as I'm fed up with so much meat we've had over christmas.
Did some sales shopping y/day, got lots of stuff for upcoming b/days and lots of xmas wrapping paper, 5mtrs for 50p.
Having both DGD's today to give DD2 a break, not looking forward to picking them up as it's tipping it down.
Had planned to make a start on our tax returns but will have to do them tomorrow. Hate that job.
Right then, must woosh the vacume around before I get the Lo's.
Haven't caught up on her for the last 3 days so I send hugs to all.
• Morning everyone!

Thought I would pop in and introduce myself. I'm Echo. I'm thirtysomething :) , married and a stay at home mum to four lovely littlies.

I'm here to get back into some more Old Style habits. I used to be into it when the oldest two were little but bit by bit as life got more busy, it fell by the wayside quite a lot.

I have two main sources of motivation. First is we need to eat healthier. We're not bad as it goes but I want to ensure five-a-day every day and a cooked dinner at least every weekday.

Second is the New Year is when we start saving for a deposit on a mortgage. I am sooooooooo excited!

Now, I know blasting into MSE-dom with a hundred good intentions is likely to mean that after a week I fall down sobbing with the weight of the world on my financial shoulders. So my intention is to start with "A Step a Week." This means I will pick one step each week to incorporate firmly into our life. I may attack other steps if I'm feeling brave, smaller stuff, but the objective is that after a week I have adopted a new habit or practice that will make things a little more MSE in our house.

My main nemesis is time. This is the real clincher. Everyone and everything wants my time. With that in mind I'm thinking of getting a slow cooker for my first week. I shall be scouring on this board later for slow cooker recipes, particularly veggie ones!

Nice to "meet" you all! I shall also be starting a diary later in DFW if anyone fancies stopping by:)
• Morning all

Welcome echo :)

Drizzly here. Think it's in for the day :(. I'm meeting my friend today for a day of exploring, but we may have to just drive by places if the rain gets heavier! :rotfl:

Not much OS here today, just need to hoover and quick tidy.

Have a good day all

Morning All

Been so busy with work over the past few months my visits have been minimal but interviews for a part-time assistant for me are being held on the 8th so the end is in sight! Hope everyone has enjoyed Christmas - my ambition for this Christmas was to wear a nice dress and do my hair and make-up on Christmas day as i usually end up looking like i've wrestled the turkey into the oven and sat on it til it cooked and i managed that! Next year's ambition is to have some money left to hit the boxing day sales!

I have fell off the SW wagon with a big bump and probably put on around a stone of the 41/2 i lost this year so will be back on track next week.

Need to re-do the meal plan as i bought 8 packs of sausages from the butchers last night that were reduced to 99p per pack and 2 packs of chicken breasts for £1.02 each. DD has requested leek and potato soup
for lunch so we're off out for leeks ....have to say i am also craving something light and fresh to eat after the indulgences of Christmas.

Have a good day and incase i don't make it back or a while Happy New Year and have a great Easter :D
