Hi all. I am a long term lurker, first time poster on the boards.
I need some reassurance regarding my child tax credits. I think that all that I qualify for is the childcare element but this is around £230 per week. I am 18 weeks pregnant with my third chil with my ex who I have been split up from for just over a year. The other two children are his also. We live in seperate houses, have a court custody agreement and spend very limited time together. Do you think that when I add this new baby on to my claim that my tax credits are like to be stopped while my single claim is investiged given the circumstances? Xxx

Given that you split up a year ago, yet you are eighteen weeks pregnant, I would expect HMRC to ask questions, yes.0

Split up for a year yet got pregnant 18 weeks ago..Yes it will be questioned. Not sure if they'll be stopped though.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I'm not fussed if they question it but are benefits usually stopped while they investigate? Everything is above board...we have slept together only twice since we split up - sometimes these things happen. We now only really communicate regarding the kids.0

Contraception does tend to stop these things happening.
They can stop your payments whilst they investigate - it depends on whether they are willing to take your word for it, or if they choose to do a full investigation.0 -
It's childcare tax credits...I'm not sure what they come under? I'll just have to hope they believe me then lol xx0
