I have found my local one reduces stuff on a Tuesday morning and I can buy virtually all of my veg reduced then.I have also had a large steak pie reduced to £1.50 which when cut into four quarters and frozen does me four meals with veg.I bought a lovely lasagnes in there for £1.25 and divided it into three and froze it so another three meals for me.Its great when they reduce some of there unusual meals I had last year some beefe burgers with apricots and cous cous on and they were huge so I made a meal out of just one with some rice and a bit of salad I like to try to cost out the main bit of my meal to between 50-75p so with veg or rice, pasta or salad costs me around a pound.
I have two lots of vouchers amounting to £20.00 to spend and I save them for when I'm down there and the reductions kick in.Nicer quality food at a price I can afford and living alone as I do my freezer always gets at least two extra meals for freezing0 -
Thanks for some ideas as I have £25 gift card and a £5 voucher (date limited) as I only occasionally shop there. Going to use on 3 for 10 meat possibly gifts sets if on offer and my beloved pittas. Also have had some of the ready sauces and preserves when red stickered.January 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

Frozen is 3 for 2 at the moment and if you are adding your shopping up to £25 to spend the £5 off coupon its the price before the offers have come off. The shopping gets scanned comes to say £25 or more before the 3 for 2 or the £10 deal comes off then they scan your £5 off coupon then the the discount for 3 for 2 or the £10 meat comes off and so does the £5.
So if you bought 6 frozen items 3 for 2, 5 at £4 and 1 at £5 that comes to £25 the £5 off voucher will work and you would get 2 of the items free making it £12 less than half price. Their frozen fish very good.0 -
You can use the gift cards for online shopping too, and you can check the balance online.''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0

Gift card are not just for food, why not treat yourself to something else instead.

I had £100 of gift vouchers for switching to Sky last year and also had trouble spending them, I did look at buying regular food but still thought it too expensive even on offer.
I look out for the £10 Dine In deals, I don't drink wine often but always buy a bottle to take to my bookclub and would generally spend £5 + on a bottle so see it as getting a great meal for £5 and I put the wine away till needed.
I bought a birthday cake later in the year which was a great help moneywise although the cake was not as special as I would have liked.
I still have 1 £25 paper voucher and around £15 on a card, I have heard the paper vouchers sell well on Ebay so will do that and spend the money on something I want. The only thing I would normally spend money on in M&S is their knickers and nightwear from the outlet shop.0 -
Frozen peas are good, as are the peas and sweetcorn mix. Or should I say 'petit pois'!
They really are excellent quality, and are on 342 ATM. I think they are about £1.00 per 500g bag.
Frozen rice mix is delicious too, and really useful for stir frys etc.
Some of the cooking sauces in jars are reduced at 94p too.
I stocked up on these, and the 3 for £10 meat ( got 3x nice gammons with a lovely long date on) and used the £5 off £25, plus my £10 gift voucher, and felt really chuffed to have a freezer and fridge full whilst only paying £10 in 'real' money.

Tbh I usually wait for a half price offer on champagne and then buy a case to get an additional discount - have bought 6 bottles of the Ouidinot at £12 each on several occasions.
Spending £50 on food that you don't really want and won't appreciate seems like a bit of a waste to me, tbh.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I'll appreciate £50 worth of food far more than a case of champagne! If it's food you need then getting the most for the £50 gift card is important.
I spent a little more today, but am now well stocked and my freezer has plenty of casserole/curry/chilli etc bases now which will last me well.
Thanks for all the ideas on here, they've been really helpful since I started this thread.0
