Good luck with what you manage to get. I once won a £50 m&s voucher and bought food with it, it didn't go far, only had about 3 carrier bags of food and it wasn't anything special.

If you can pop in to M&S this weekend, at the minute they have vouchers at the tills, which give you £5 off a £25 spend, so that would help a little too?0

I really liked their sausages which were 99p, now they re about £1.19 I think, still tasty, but seem to have a huge amount of fat in.
I like their prepared salads.
Their quiches are delicious.
M&S biscuits are great (quite often various ones are on offer too) the all butter shortbread is the best I've ever had, better than other expensive brand names.
My local has huge reductions at the end of the day.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Been in today, got 3 for £10 meat. Not sure if its just scotland but there was a giant haggis in the offer, would do several people, didnt get it as it was too big but got mince, burgers and chicken
Did get the rest (rolls, veg etc) in tesco because some basics were pricey but choose wisely and you should manage to stretch your £50. 0 -
I spent a gift card yesterday in M & S for £20, but miscalculated so they just left 83p on the card to use next time. With these lovely £5 off £25, your gift card is effectively worth £60, eg spend £30 (3 4 £10 meat or 3 meal deals ) and present coupon, use £25 off gift card and repeat another time. Reductions can be a bit hit and miss. I've had cucumbers and cream (not at the same time !) reduced to 10p and other stuff only a fraction off.
My local makes small reductions up until about 20-30 mins before closing when IF there's staff available they will reduce most things to 50 or 80p. Because thats what usually happens, there are regulars waiting to snap them up.
Also online you have the occassional wine glitch where they reduce a wine and then take 25% off 2 cases or more and you get quidco etcStill virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

Well I went to M and S with my gift card ready and waiting but in the end, I am so indoctrinated by this site and my use of Aldi and whoopsies that I did very poorly and still have loads left. I just couldn't bring myself to buy some things on my list despite telling myself over and over again that in effect it was all free because of the gift. I'm sure I gasped How Much??? rather too loudly a couple of times.
I did buy some 3 for £10 meat which I've cooked in various ways and now sitting in the freezer so thank you for alerting me to those. I was nearly drawn in a couple of times by their shelf labels, for example some cereals that said that the price was the same as Tesco. I remembered that I would never have bought Kelloggs anyway, even in Tesco, it would have been own brand of some type so a poor comparison. I also bought some satsumas as they didn't have them in Aldi.
But even with a gift voucher I can't pay over a pound for veg when I know they're on at 39p at Aldi. I also had a vague nagging feeling that while I was prepared to pay those high prices it would just encourage the shop to keep them high.
I'll try again another day - and I was given another £5 off voucher too...sigh, such hard work spending free money!0 -
I'm in a similar boat, got a £25 gift card last Christmas that is still unspent and another £25 gift card this year. I haven't bought food in M&S for years.0

M&S do really good reductions, apparently starting around 4.30pm but they seem to do them all day in my local store. I'd definitely be doing what you're planning, why not get as much for your £50 as you can ?
This, my local one does big reductions on a Saturday on bread & their bread is fantastic, keeps for ages.
I live in a town where M&S is one of the main supermarkets (that I like), so occasionally I will shop there. If you have a family with little children you may find it hard to make the £50 go far but if it's just you & a partner, you can make it work. In my opinion, I'd spend the £50 on their meat, casserole mixes and fruit & veg; meat is very nice and fresh produce lasts for a while. Their sandwich meats are good quality. I'm partial to frozen ready meals and the pasta vegetable bake is the best, fuller for longer range is good and OMG the chinese is awesome. Avoid butter, yogurts, cereals, frozen fish fingers/chips/chicken bits, kids range and their drinks as they are a lot of money for not a lot.
If I had the £50, I might wait until theres a good dine in for £10 offer like they have the whole chicken and sides which you can separate & freeze. :TNow I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt!
