    Before forking out seperate.

Check your house insurance, if you have any.
Check with your bank account, this is what I use and pay £6 per month for a few things.

Failing this, you can get cover for £72 annually on protect your bubble, although check the T&C's as I have not read into them much, since already covered.

I generally don't recommend phone insurance. I have the iPhone 4S with O2 and they quoted me £12.50 a month for phone insurance (which is pretty average across the suppliers). That is almost £312 over a two year contract.

It is also very hard to make a claim. For example, having a phone stolen in school or on public transport is rarely covered by insurance with either your network provider or a third party insurance company.

Typically, the best option is to cover it under your home insurance. It may already be covered, so double check. If not, it's definitely worth considering (however make sure a claim on your mobile phone won't drastically increase your home insurance premium).

Used or have a history of claiming successfully?

What I see is a typical set of getaway clauses:
    What is not covered
    • theft of the Electronic Equipment from any premises unless it involves forcible and violent entry or exit or
    • ....
    • theft of the Electronic Equipment from the person of the user unless involving force or the threat thereof ...

Despite promising on the front page to cover against theft they in fact cover against burglary/robbery only.

    Used but never claimed
  • Are there any others like that 'cusc' site that someone here might recommend for an iphone 5 please? (Don't have home insurance to include it in unfortunately)

To be honest I wouldn't bother. My iPhone 3 was 4 months old and down the loo It fell..took it to apple who replaced it for £110 which was cheaper then a years insurance cover

iPhone 4 I stood on and broke the screen and messed it up to the point it wouldnt recognise the SIM card. Was 14 months old and apple replaced for £90

Save £10 a month in a saving account just in case and make sure it's insured against theft on the house insurance

    Insurance2Go - £70/year for iPhone 5 cover

With the latest iPhone release costlier than its predecessor, our cheapest pick is from Insurance2Go*. It covers iPhones up to the value of £700 and while it's suitable for the complete range of iPhones, it's not the cheapest for the 3 or 4.

Varying levels of cover are available, which in turn increases the price, and the things you are protected against. Covering the phone against loss costs the most.

However, prices are still far cheaper than network providers. Of its tiers, the ones worth considering are:

Lite: Priced £59.99. Covers accidents, liquid damage, theft and unauthorised calls (up to £1,000). No loss cover.
Full: If you pay £69.99, losing the phone is covered too.

For all of these, the excess (the amount you must pay of any claim) is a modest £50.

Feedback for insurance2go mobile insurance is available on our forum (please feedback if you have any experience with it).

Excess: £50 damage, £75 theft/loss. Max value £700, Age of phone: 6 mths at time of purchase, Cover abroad: 30 days/year Speed: Likely to take a few days at least. What do you get if you lose? Refurbished or new phone. Unauthorised calls: £1,000
