As an alternative to the slug protection you can make from the cross-section of plastic bottles.
Yeo-Valley ones are particularly good for this purpose, because once you remove the cardboard (for recycling) you're left with a frosted clear effect carton (aesthetically pleasing / lets light through!), and the plastic they use isn't brittle, so can be folded:
Cut base off, cut into the bottom rim about 1cm deep, all the way round about 1cm apart. Then do the same at the other, wider end, folding THOSE cuts back to make a jagged collar.
These can be used in veg beds, seed trays or partciularly perfect for the mini-size brown pots you can get, in which I start all my lettuces. Really seems to make a difference to slug damage, and gives young seeldings a bit of protection from winds, too. The cuts you made at the bottom help you rotate it into the ground around your seedling. They also help keep your young plant upright, not drooping over for slugs and snails to use as a bridge into your pots!0 -
Hmmm, old windowbox 'saucer'/driptray thing, (you know what I mean) got used as temporary kitten litter tray some years ago. And I use cheapo asda creme bubble bath to refil my pump soap in the bathroom. Seems to work as well or better, and I actually prefer it to the proper stuff!A penny saved is a penny gained0

Plastic bottles with their bottoms chopped off
make great cloches or mini green houses in the garden.
Keeps the slugs out too.0 -
Strips cut from yoghurt pots or disassembled wooden clothes pins make great markers for seed trays if you write on them with a waterproof pen.0

Get a large double or triple box of tissues and blow on them to make it into 3 tissues! thereby giving you 3 boxes for the price of one. :money:

I know how to make a Ventian blind
But for all you guys out there, for a few bob they make a special cleaning mop for blinds. It has 4 furry prongs on it and does 4 slats at a time much easier than 1 at a time me thinks

Ahhhh I did have a quick scan of the other posts but couldn't see it mentioned, hence wondering why you'd asked. Think maybe I need a check-up at the opticians again"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
