    Any Birminghamers?
    Cup of Tea? :coffee:
  • Can anyone tell me whether it is 75% off current sale prices or 75% off the original price before the sale?

Has anyone tried the boots sale online? If so what time does it start? I've done the sale in my local branch the last two years and loved getting a bargain but this year I'm working so won't be able to get there. Was thinking of staying up late/getting up early to chance the online. Any tips? :)

the 50% off went online at around 3am, and that seems to be the pattern with the online 75% sales too for Boots - the site goes down completely, then when it comes up again in the early hours of the morning the 75% prices are there. Its a case of keep checking the site, and then keeping trying to checkout (even at that time of the morning it gets busy ;)).

Just phoned Customer Services and they said that they think it means that all the items went out of stock after I put them in my basket. Would be surprised if that was the case, especially as it kept allowing me to add to it. However, she said she would empty my basket but it could take up to 48 hours. I'm hoping my basket is empty before the 75% sale but am trying to not buy too much this year, so could be doing me a favour!

This happened to me too - I was using Firefox so changed to IE and it worked no problem, I was able to do what I wanted after that :T
  • Last year I shopped online when 75% started and then went to my local store (smallish branch). Nearly everything was sold instore...I popped in several days later and loads of sale stuff had appeared from nowhere, and nobody was even bothering about it. I picked up quite a few things at 75% off and a couple wouldn't scan at all so they just stuck them through and said as they couldn't scan I wouldn't be charged. One very happy customer!

I think they tend to stock pile a lot of line ends that aren't on their planagrams and get them out as clearance at certain times of the year as it's more likely to sell that way.

I remember getting some lovely National Trust candles for about £2 ish last year & they scanned at 3 for 2 too!

Also got some photo magnets for about 50p & scanned at BOGOF.

Got lots of packs of Christmas post it notes too for about 15p a pack - made nice little extras this Christmas for the kids.

Always worth checking back in the stores if you're passing after the shelves have been cleared as there will be odds & sods in the warehouse that they'll try to clear.

Don't forget too that there's always the off chance of a Christmas return if you're in the right place at the right time - probably from someone who bought at the higher price & bought it again at 75% so returned the original :rotfl:

I tried it with both IE and Google Chrome and had the same problem. I have now put a few things in my basket but don't know whether they will stay in there for the 75% off sale or whether I'll have the same problem. I don't want much in the sale anyway, just a few men's sets so I'm not too worried. Don't think I'm bothered enough to brave the store either!

Just checked and my Google basket has 6 items in but my IE basket only has one. I think I should just empty them both and put items I'm interested in on the 'save for later' list!

ETA it won't let me move anything to 'purchase later'. Interesting, is this ana attempt to deter people earmarking stuff for the sale? In which case, why does it allow me to leave items in my basket?
