Unfortunately another spendy day today but popping in so I can keep up with the thread, it's moving so quickly.
Plan for today
Up and blitz the house, go food shopping, get petrol, come back for lunch, go to the cinema, pop and see the folks then relax.
What a day.
(And hoping to get some lovely birthday pressies along the way!!:D )
Have a good day everyone.
Is it your birthday EvertheOptimist??????
Happy, Happy Birthday

So do I .... 2 reasons:
1) I'd forget by the time it came out my accountBUT really
2) I often buy several things in one day .... can you imagine if they then all came out my bank on different days and I lost loads of NSDs:eek::eek:
Now ... I really need to grab one of them today!

Happy Birthday EverTheOptimist! Have a wonderful day!
So today will be NSD #5
Can i ask- do you all work out your budgets at the start of every month/day/payday and then withdraw the cash you need until the next month/day/payday?
I am thinking of doing this, so that i then dont have to touch my bank account in between (apart from moving money into savings accounts).
Trying to think of any drawbacks to doing this, but cant really think of any, so i'll give it a go i think!!0 -

Ah well, the drawback of doing that for me was, I withdrew all the money for the month at once and then spent it - all - in about a week, then I had to draw more out to get to the end of the monthI am so hopeless with money
If I have it in my purse I have a compelling urge to spend it
I have my spreadsheet with all my incomings and outgoings for every single day. Each week I have a row with my budget amount in it. I use my debit card for nearly everything and just take it off that weeks budget as I go along. This works for me as it keeps all the spare pennies in my account (which make £1's eventually) and as I take it off I can see what I have left for the week.
I don't think I have explained that very wellSorry

Thanks Freeby, you explained it perfectly
Because i'll be doing it weekly (if i do it), i think it'll cut down the chance to spend it all at once and then have to withdraw more. If i withdraw £55 on Friday to spend on food, and its all gone by Friday, then 6 days isnt TOO long to wait until i withdraw again, considering that i will have all the food in. I have to limit myself to a £10 limit on petrol a week at the moment, so i'd also withdraw that on a Friday, put £10 in the tank, then when i run out, thats it until the following week.
I know for a fact that if i did it monthly, i'd be in the same predicament as you would be i.e spending it all in 1 week though
Hmmm.....not sure what to do?0 -
2 more nsd for me as not out all weekend.Today will have a tidy up do some ironing, hubby will take tree to tip then back at work tomorrow.Save £4500 in 20140

You'll find a way that suits you.I am in a comfortable place now managing my budget but it has taken me a year to feel as if I am in control and to find that way.
