  • I was a regular on here some time back but life took over... :(

    However, I'm back and my credit card debt is down by half to just over £8k. It will be gone by October 2013 at the latest. Then I can start moving from DFW to MFW

    So could you put me down for 12 this first month, lets see how I get on. :cool:

    Happy New Year in advance

  • I've been watching for this thread as I'm excited about starting 2013! I'm another one who does really well when I'm posting regularly and keeping track of things. I'm having a much needed day at home today and will be sorting through things and preparing for the new year. I really need 2013 to be my lucky year and to get out of debt once and for all.

    I'm back at school on 6th Jan so will need to work hard not to spend any money in that first week. It'll be better once we're back at school and DH back at work. Can I try for 15 NSDs to start with?

    Thanks and looking forward to January!

    Seems everyone is paddling in the Ponder Pond--me included--on this month's aims :D

    I know Muvva has a few appts in January, so there's two ways they can lead us; we'll either go shopping & have lunch while we're out, or come straight back home after seeing whichever medic it is that day.
    Our little post office is closing & moving into the sweetie shop twitching-smiley-emoticon.gif which will make for interesting times when bills need to be paid twitching-smiley-emoticon.gif (& I've been doing so much better too :o ) & I think the time has come to invest in a couple of skirts as opposed to wearing trousers every day. Maybe it's the thought of all those twirling kilts getting me going flirtish-hello-smiley-emoticon.gif

    Sssooooooooooooooo.......I'll..sstaarrt..wiiiiiiiith..office-chair-smiley-emoticon.gif.....Let's have a go at 16; I can always increase it can't I :)..yep. 16 tis then!

    *** peeks sheepishly around door ***

    having fallen off every wagon last year, I'd like to come back if you'll let me please?

    Trying to figure out a target's a bit tricky!! I've got into the habit of nipping into Mr T after I've been to the gym on a Monday morning if I need something, then after work/swimming lesson on a Friday, then hitting local shops on a Saturday (for anything I need and forgot for cooking for OH and myself that evening), and then get requests from elder DS to pick up milk on other days with little or no notice!! (Is Daisy still around for borrowing?)

    I could do with dropping either the Friday or Saturday (probably the Friday as I never spend as much locally - Mr T always seems to convince me I need stuff I don't :eek:), so am hoping to get down to 2 food shopping days a week.

    I'm also planning on allowing one day a month for a bulk shop, having recently acquired a membership card for C0stc0 (OH couldn't understand why I was so excited about it until I took him round - and we're spending NYE there making notes of prices of things we regularly use so we know whether we're better off buying there or at the normal supermarkets)

    So that would mean 9 grocery spend days in January (Monday and Saturdays plus 1 day), and I'd best allow another 4 days for picking up milk which takes it to 13. Looking at Direct Debits I may need another 6 days to cover those, which makes for as many as 18 spend days :eek:

    So that means I've potentially got 12 NSDs for January - though I'm hoping requests for milk may 'clash' with other spends giving me a few more ;)

  • :wave: Hi All,

    Well fell off the wagon in spectacular style in December :eek::o.

    On a more positive note, secured a brand new job to start in January :j:j so all jars updated for expenses - enough to have to think about what money I spend but hopefully realistic enough to remain achievable.

    My rules for 2013:
    • All cash withdrawn on day 1 & 2 and separated into relevant jars;
    • Spends from jars still an NSD as budgeted - any excess counts as a spend;
    • Small change (20p coins or smaller) goes into a "squander money" jar for those occasional treats;
    • Larger change (50p, £1, £2) goes into a "big treat" fund - not sure yet what this will buy, but will see how much this accumulates - certainly stopped me from buying the odd chocolate bar/newspaper when I only had a fiver/tenner plenty of times last year!;
    • Any money left in the main jars at the end of the month gets split between savings account and "big treat" fund.
    So let's start as we mean to go on and set a target of.............

    22 NSD's and 6 in a row

    Good luck to all NSD'ers for 2013.
