Is the scheme worth it? I have a friend on it and he got a vw. Unsure about the cost but from a failing memory think he pays £47 per week. That is £2444 a year and for 3 years is £7332.

Now if he were to pay this money out over 4 years on a small 0% interest car, then it would be bought outright, and for the next 6 or so years be quids in? Tax, servicing and insurance not taken into account.

Also should he die, his partner will loose the car and then she still have to buy her own.

For the size of car I have and taking insurance, servicing and tyres into account, it would cost me a lot more to pay for it on HP, bank loan or PCP than I do with motability. I am war pension though and that means the car comes to me a fair bit cheaper.

    Got the selection down to:

Vauxhall Astra Estate SE (£99 deposit)
Renault Grand Scenic Dimonique tomtom (£600)
    Pugeout 3008 (£300 i think)

What are your views on these cars?

Euurh... not a great selection of cars there. The best of the 3 is the Astra probably, and since it has the least deposit. What about a Focus? Great car and it's a similar priced car to the Astra I think.

There are better cars on the market to be honest, I know they might cost more on the Motability scheme though. And, I suppose if you are happy with these cars :)

Not sure on the cost on the Motability scheme, but for that size of car I'd reccommend the Ford Focus Estate, Nissan Qashqai and Golf Estate.

The Focus is a similar size to the Astra, better looking, better inside, better to drive. The Qashqai has a better view out, higher up, well built. The Golf estate is maybe a bit too expensive but it's got a lovely interior, spacious and is great VW quality.

Though it's all a personal thing, what suits one person might not suit another. Try some different cars out and see what you fancy, what you prefer inside, whats more comfortable etc.

    best of luck looking :)

    Get on the website:

    http://www.motability.co.uk/

Search for the kind of car you want.

Make a few choices for comparison.

    Visit a local dealer/dealers.

Take Test drives in your choices.

    Make a decision.

    SIMPLES!
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Have you not just missed the point? Tax, servicing, insurance you have to pay for these things if you own the car! Worry free motoring on a brand new car for £47 per week.

    Huge choice of cars.
    Tax
Servicing (all at main dealers so collection and delivery and car valet)
    Insurance
    Tyres replaced for free
    Windscreens replaced for free
    Breakdown cover and courtesy car
And a new car three years later.....

I know what I would be going for.

Since you don't pay for the servicing, you probably want to ignore the usual advice on here and go for a diesel regardless of your annual mileage.

have now test drove the renault and the pug 3008 we can rule them out.

Going to test drive the astra estate however have now seen the Nissan Quashqi+2 and they are in favour of this over the astra, yet to test drive though.

What are your thoughts on the Quashqi+2?

There are two models the Acenta (£399) and the Ntec+(£699) that are within budjet.
