I just can't be ar$ ed to do anything!

As title states.!
Had surgery (mastectomy) nearly 3 weeks ago and the pain won't quit. Had Christmas early this weekend as mum & dad flew out to NZ on Xmas day to see my little sis. It's really cheap to fly then apparently. DS2 is at his dads until 06/01 and DS1 is working(was at his gf on Xmas day). We (OH & I) went to eat out for the day itself and I spent Xmas eve, day & boxing day with OH, coming home last night as he had a full house with his 4 kids spending the next few days there. We are married (just) but still live apart. Loooooong story but we're happy like this.!

I have a full freezer but nothing fresh in and I really should go out and get some stuff in, plus there's sales on.!

But I just cannot be bothered!! I have this major apathy plus a huge longing for a fag: I gave up before surgery. I just feel so bleaah! I'm not depressed, quite happy in fact, but just so lethargic.!
Someone please give me a boot up the but* !!!

You had major surgery only 3 weeks ago. It is no wonder you feel lethargic and not up to doing much. Be kind to yourself and recover at a gentle pace. Do the bare minimum to feel comfy and happy and dont worry about anything. Wishing you well and a happy 2013.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Wow, give yourself a break and just take it easy, just be gentle and look after yourself... Xx
  • No. No boot up the butt from me. If you were my chum I'd be giving you a blankie and a hot choc and the remote.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Ditto, let your body recover from the trauma, on the sofa, in your PJ's!!

No boot from me either. I think you need to be a little bit realistic and accept that major surgery takes more than 3 weeks to get over. Your body has been significantly traumatised and it's using all its energy to heal the trauma, hence no energy left for trips to Tescos and the sales, and you feel lethargic. That's quite normal.
Could you talk to your breast care nurse or your GP about your level of pain and get it under control?
It's hard when you still fancy a fag and know you musn't give in, so here's a bit of encouragement: research shows that craving for a fag lasts no longer than 3 minutes so try and distract yourself for that period each time.
And best wishes, lots of luck and I hope 2013 is kinder to you.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Lol!! There's a lot of 3 minutes joined together though.

I went out, driven by munchies. If I can't smoke then I snack. I probably won't need to diet once I start chemo. RAFLMAO!!! Treated myself to 2 half price No.7 gift sets and Pringles.

I'm now ensconsed in my Xmas leopard onesie and Ruby & Ed slipper socks (cosy). I got OH subscribed to Pinterest & showed him where my wish list was & warned him of the dire consequences of going 'off-list'. ;)

Central heating is on. Coffee with hazelnut Baileys & Pringles to hand. Remote at the ready. Consider me told :D

Elise, don't be too hard on yourself, be kind. We all like to think we'll immediately spring back to how we were before we had radical surgery, but Mother Nature has other plans for us.
Munch away - divorce or chemo are excellent diet aids, and if it helps - the gaps between the 3 minute "aaaargh gizza fag" become greater as the days go by.

OK, now I feel really bad. Elsie you have just described how I feel, but I don`t have your very valid reasons for doing nowt. I suggest some serious coach potato, book, drink, relaxing for now so that you charge the coiled spring you will become when recovered.
Devil`s advocat time - took dog for long walk today (took a lot of will power) and felt much better for the effort!
Best of luck for your recovery.
