    First link in Google

You can also buy Admiral which is basically Maytag's budget brand. Here's a black one

I've not used and don't know either retailer as I tend to deal more with physical stores where you will often get a better all round deal anyway.

GE, okay but not as good as the Maytag IMO.

Samsung, riddled with problems and backup poor.

LG, not the best and backup poor, personally I think they're rubbish.

Whirlpool, problems with boards on the ice maker and they seem to be troublesome.

Bosch, no information on them as they haven't gotten outside Bosch's own service enough to get an opinion.

Beko, new range and an unknown quantity in that arena.

Smeg and a host of others are re-branded Maytags but be careful as, for example, CDA, is a rebranded Samsung.

As I said, if you want an all stainless machine you will pay for it

In the end you get what you pay for to a large degree and quite often a bargain turns into a nightmare. :(

    Hi
    Thanks kwatt. That's interesting.
Our Samsung is knackered, so I'd agree on that.
LG - get a Which best buy, and they say they're reliable. Can buy one with ice and water for £600.
GE - seen one with ice and water for £1000
Siemens - John Lewis can do it for £950 with a voucher
AEG - can get one for £950 from ebay (99% perfect)

    What do you think??

    Hi Shona,

I don't agree with Which on that really I have to say. I have worked for LG and they couldn't organise a night out in a brewery quite frankly. Aftersales support was woeful, spares and technical information very hard to get and, when you did finally get spares, they were ludicrous prices in relation to the machines.

The washing machines are the same.

Funnily enough I was talking to one of the guys yesterday afternoon that does a LOT of LG and Samsung work and he actually thinks that the Samsung is better than the LG despite the Samsung's "issues". Personally I'd avoid both.

You have to ask yourself though, how can LG make these things, ship them from Korea and pay all the import fees/taxes and knock these things out for almost half what a decent one costs? It's really not hard to work out as not all the rest are taking the Mick on price, although some branded ones do to be fair.

GE, not too bad we do some warranty service on them and only tend to see them with silly problems, but on the whole they seem not too shabby. Again, the engineers seem to rate them if they see them.

Admiral are changing their range shortly and there are some run out deals going to be had over the next few weeks on the SAC224GB etc range. Good solid machine with a strong track record. I don't know what changes there are for the new range, minor cosmetics I expect as there's nothing startling on the horizon to my knowledge.

Siemens is Bosch. Bosch, Neff & Siemens are all the same thing all part of the BSH Group. £950 is cheap though for that unit but what they're like I don't know although, from Bosch, I wouldn't expect it to be bad.

AEG is an Electrolux in a fancy dress. ;)

We've had the, errr, "issue" with some re-branded one. ;)
