You sure that wasn't a month?

I stated annually, I always pay annually :p
  • That insurance quote sounds too good to be true. As a couple in our 30s/40s with 10 years NCB and lots of shopping around, we're still paying nearly that for a Skoda Octavia VRS, which is a similar car risk/power-wise.

Unless you are on a very limited mileage, and live in the outer hebrides, I can't believe you can get insurance for that price for that car at your age.

Unless all the reports of young men's insurance costing several k per year are false, which I don't think they are as I know people with sons who are paying £2-3k per year for nissan micras and the like, which I personally think is madness.
  • You want a 9k loan but have savings of 4k? I am sure you can get a decent car for 4k.
"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered, the point is to discover them."

  • I also think you've got that insurance quote wrong, so I took time out of my extremely busy day to run what few details I know of you with GoCompare using the car that you're after. Obviously some bits are guesses such as I've guessed you work in Retail, and your accident caused no injury and you've no penalty points etc etc.

GoCompares cheapest price for you and that £9k golf is £4792 a year, or £588 a month if you choose monthly.

    Best of luck.

That insurance quote sounds to me as if you either a) live offshore which is highly unlikely as you travel 60 miles to work or b) have got a parent or relative fronting the policy.

If option b) then I suggest you look at what happens when the insurer finds out by googling "insurance fronting".

I live in a remote village with a crime rate of 0

my crash was a single car incident

my annual mileage is 7000 thats not a limit
  • To attempt to take out £9k of debt on your present income would be irresponsible at best and to suggest that either of your parents undertake the role of guarantor is deeply unfair to them. Why should they be responsible for a debt that you obviously cannot afford?

You can get a cheap runabout for £2k, go for a smaller engine to reduce your insurance bills, and not go into debt. While it's nice that you would like to have a flashier car, learn now that instant gratification isn't a human right. Save it until you've finished Uni, have a decent job and can earn your car.

Or stop trolling, whichever is easier.

I would suggest avoiding Diesel cars when you are driving only 7K miles a year.
When Diesel cars go wrong, they do it in a much more spectacular way than petrols (from a cost perspective)

Diesels need a good run. I can't quite fathom how you are in full time employment, driving 60 miles a day but only covering 7,000 miles a year.

i don't drive 60 miles a day i stay over near work during the week and go back when ever i have enough time off.
so essentially i cover about 700 or so miles a month

I've just been told by so many that diesels are more efficient and much more economical than petrol

Whilst i am aware now financing on a car worth 9k is silly, is just in general financing not worth it?
