We are hoping to self build our forever home eventually too :j:j
The master plan at the moment is to move somewhere "normal" for the next 5 years or so, and then when we are at the right point in our careers take some time out and do a self build.
We're quite interested in the idea of a timber framed "kit house" and think that would be the way forward for us, but who knows, in a few years time things might have changed a lot!
Good luck with your plans!
Go for it!:D:DDFBX2016 #024

Met another lovely man at uni today - good to know there are folk like him there to help if needed.
In other news I haven't bought anything (yet) but the continental xmas market has appeared! Must arrange to meet LM for wine glugging one night:DMortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

I'm not trying to rain on your parade...just thought it might stress you a bit if you combine building and studying and working.
That said timber frames are quite widely used these days. Go up very quickly.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

You're right, it's nice to think about what you would like to happen..
We have been looking at the brochure from Potton at different styles of houses, there's some in there which we would really like to build.
We are going to the Grand Designs Live exhibition in Birmingham at the weekend, (there was a 2 for 1 entry voucher code!) to have a look, even though it is probably a long time before we are ready we might get some ideas, or even find out more and get put off!
I think the more informed we are the better though, and looking forward to a nice day out.
There's a talk by a choclatier too, which might be bad news for my diet!:cool:DFBX2016 #024
