We got a call from the police this morning to say that all of the foot prints, finger prints and fibre samples that the police got from our house have been sent to the lab.
I am still not sleeping properly even though they got nothing, it is just that there was a stranger in my house and it has left me very nervy.

Went to get a few top ups in Aldi today, which was lovely and quiet and had a look in Wilkinson's sale, which was very underwhelming, we were chatting to one of the women in there and she said that a friend of hers was robbed the same night as us and they live over the road. Evidently there was a gang going around and one has been arrested, so with a bit of luck he will squeal on the others.

We had gammon and coleslaw in crusty bread for lunch and it was very tasty. Not much planned for this afternoon apart from making some more cheese straws and a quiche for tea time. I might have a nap before I start cooking, because I am shattered.

DH said he will take us over to Bletchley tomorrow for a good mooch round.

I think everyone should take the occasional day off and stay in bed, or at least do nothing. Impossible of course, but I feel so much better this morning after having a 'do nothing' day yesterday, I could do with feeling like this more often. Trouble is one feels so guilty lazing about while other people are working.

Decided to use up the last of the casserole. Heated it, thought there wasn't enough for both of us so proceeded to make it into 2 pasties. Completely overlooked the fact that the meat was hot, so dumped it on to the pastry circles and was quite surprised when the pastry melted into holes. Did my best to patch it up but it ended up with scrappy bits of pastry mixed with hot meat, kept together in tinfoil and baked. Tasted better than it looked and at least nothing was wasted. What a numpty!

Guess what I'm about to do now? The church magazine, due out on Sunday. Thought I had all day tomorrow but dear friends of ours have just rung to ask us to help them celebrate their wedding anniversary (62 years) so that's tomorrow out of the window. Bless them, we can't possibly let them down, they are such lovely people.

My clothes feel suspiciously tight so am not going near the scales until all our foodfest is over - Jan 2nd -and then it's back to the hair shirt.

A working day for me today. Thursdays and Fridays are my work days, so this is a normal week for me. Fairly quiet, as most of our customers don't work between Christmas and new year

DH was home alone today, but he is going to work tomorrow, as I'm at work. We are then both off until next Thursday.

While he was home he mended the leaking cistern and got dinner. OK it was cold turkey and ham with oven chips and baked beans, but it was very enjoyable.

I've just downloaded the Eagle of the Ninth on Kindle as their 99p deal of the day. Result, I've wanted to read that book since about 1976!

    I've had a lovely day :D

Prepped all the food for dinner this morning, and made soup, and a packed lunch. Then I went out for a walk. I went to one of the local beaches, I was the only one on the beach! Love that. Saw some people on my walk but pretty much on my own. Found some interesting bits to take pictures of, and got to blow away the cobwebs and think things over!

Then I came home and cooked dinner for my parents and cousin and wife. Huge success, and I have enough nut roast for 5 meals, enough roast spuds for 2, and veg for 2 meals left over :). I ventured out and did some brasied red cabbage and honeyed carrots, new for me but loved both. It was lovely to see my cousin and his wife, not seen them in a year I think.

Knackered now, quick browse on net then bed!

Great day. Alarm went off an hour late (for DH not me:D) I finally set up the teasmade again so we had tea in bed. Went to the gym, then braved Tesco's. Some great deals.

2 packs of S/Salmon (down from £20 to £6), Gammon piece (down from £7 to £2.50) All now individually portioned (I love my slicer:T) should get 15 sandwich lunches from the ham for DH, and the same of Scrambled eggs, omelettes etc for me.

Went to outlaws for lunch. The entire clan was there. Quite enjoyable and came away with a couple of meals worth of food, so need to rejig the meal plans.

Glad to hear people are having a great time. After the gym tomorrow I have a long list of shopping to do and then DH and I are going to see The Hobbit. I will report back.

(((hugs))) to those in need. LW I hope the plumbers visit wasn't too traumatic and that you now have heating.
