OS Daily Thursday 27th December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 27th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Monnogran, well done on all your hard work.
Hugs to Molly, PP, Jools & Uncle Bryn.
LW I hope you & Mr LW were able to stay warm.
Hubby is still not feeling well & is still convinced it's Bird flu with added complications, lol, I'm supplying painkillers & hot drinks in large quantities!
I found a nice stash busting pattern, last night, for a knitted headband, the sort that keeps your ears warm, I've knitted a couple & shall make a few more today, inbetween reading my Wartime Farm book.
Today we'll have bubble & squeak for tea with chilli sausages, I shall make turkey, ham & mushroom pies with the rest of the Christmas meat & fruit salad with the rest of the fruit.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all - it's been a while since I last posted here as I started a Debtfree diary and have tended to post there instead. Still continuing with the OS lifestyle. Christmas was quite subdued by choice as I got serious with the finances; unfortunately also got hit with car repair costs and now a poorly cat (going to the vet today - damaged claw and knuckle) but we're surviving. Heads down for a frugal and serious year, and living out of freezers and pantry for as much of January as I can. I finish work on Friday for 2 weeks off when I'll do my spring-cleaning and more decluttering. Back at work fulltime now since my op which has improved my mood. Hope everyone's okay."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Good morning Hester and to all those who/follow,
It's not raining here but very wet and muddy.
Everyone is still in bed. Am on my second cuppa of the day.
Wm is on. It will go on the airer when it has finished.
I still have some turkey left in the fridge. Will it still be ok to eat today?
Hester, i hope your hubby soon feels better. My cold still hasn't gone. It is taking a while to go.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning :santa2:
I'm pleased with amount of rubbish we didn't put out this yearAll envelopes, crackers and wrapping paper have been shredded for the chickens, the cards will be shredded too once I've cut gift tags out of them. A few presents were in boxes (toiletries, etc) so I'll keep the boxes, cover them and use them as drawer tidies. No food went in the bin, it's either been fed to the chickens or frozen. Timmy Pig ate all the peelings
Crochet is a lot easier and neater with lovely new wool, rather than a couple of old unravelled jumpers and some carpet wool
I have to do a Morrison's shop to get the £30 off. I don't really need anything so not sure how I'm going to manage it. The list will probably look like this – milk, bread, fruit, lots of loo rolls, lots of toothpaste, lots of washing up liquid..............
I've hardly moved for two days, my hip has almost seized up, lol. I'll get moving today, it should be OK by tomorrow.Bulletproof0 -
Thankyou Hester, that's lunch sorted sorted. I will put surplus in the freezer. I have loads of mushrooms that need using up so i may do an omelette with the rest of the salad from yesterday.
I have just got back from a bike ride. Oh my goodness, how unfit am i. I only did a mile but it felt like 10!
Tiglath, i hope your cat gets on ok at the vet.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dark damp and miserable here this morning.
DH up and off to work early - but not stupid early.
I will be heading to town shortly - need to visit the bank and building society. Will have a quick browse in the sales - need birthday gifts for niece and MIL - generally manage to get them something in the sales.
Yesterday was very chilled, visited both sets of parents to thank them for our gifts - then visited big computer/electrical store to get info and possibly purchase a dongle for my laptop - local one was sold out so went to next town and they were sold out too, tried online when we got back and they are not listing the same one, so will wait for new stock to come in at our local one - will try again tomorrow.
Lunch yesterday was LO turkey, ham, and cold bits from the fridge - also reheating some LO roast pots for the menfolk - I had salad with mine - all very nice. Need to organise dinner for tonight - not sure what that will be - but think I will get the remaining turkey bagged and in the freezer or make a turkey and ham pie for tonights dinner. Still have some other LO food to use up - which I will incorporate into today's meals - trying not throw anything away. Made stock from the turkey carcass which is now safely stowed in the freezer.
I will do whatever washing, drying and ironing needs doing today - and hopefully get packed for going away - I also need to take the bedding back to the caravan and make our bed up - it's easier to do it before we leave then do it when we arrive on site. Will also check the supplies stashed in there as we did have a bit of a clear out - need to check we have all the normal supplies tea, coffee, sugar etc. Will make a list and I will need to do a small shop tomorrow - we're being provided with our evening meals so I just need to organise brekkie and lunches and snacks, and of course - beer, wine, other alcoholic drinks and soft drinks!
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning all, very wet and soggy here too. Just off to take DD to work and need to pop to Lidl for bio-degradable bags for the food caddy. Just put out a mountain of rubbish as we're allowed extra sacks today. Glad everyone has had a good time, monnagran hope you feel better after your day on the sofa, I bet they all enjoyed their Christmas meal and presents. HH hope DH is better soon. Hugs to all in need esp Jools and unclebryn. LW hope you stayed warm and Molly hope you are OK. JackieO sounds like you are having a great time. Bitsy I'm fed up with this weather too, especially as it results in wet, muddy dog every day. Have a good day all£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
