I have now tried 4 or 5 times to apply for the Halifax 17mths O% credit card on the Halifax website.
I go through the whole process to apply and then at the end the message comes up that there is a technical error 700001
Anybody any ideas - as I can't understand if there is a fault on the website why it makes you go through the whole process instead of telling you before you start

I would wait until they are open to see if any of the applications have been actually processed.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

Further Info. After ringing Halifax several times I did get through to one chap who said this had been reported to them a number of times. However he could give me no indication of when it would be fixed !!!!!!! He did confirm that none of my applications had gone through.
Incidentally I was applying for the 17 month 0% purchases card which you can only apply for online. The phone application one is only for 12 months0 -
Try using a different browser. Many websites work with Internet Explorer only. :-(0

It's likely to be Halifax and their atrocious web developers at fault. They took 6 months to fix a very basic problem with looking at historic transactions and the "fix" still didn't work. They also struggle to sort transactions chronologically and get someone that has never used a browser before to design their user interfaces.
Online application fix? Don't hold your breath0 -
Update. Have tried several more times but no luck. still get the same error.
Have tried for the 17month deal through this site and separately direct with Halifax. Also through Halifax for the 15 month deal. All come up with the same error.
Thanks to the above for your advice.0 -
The problem also exists with the Lloyds TSB site. I've tried twice, with the same result, it lets you get to the end of the application, then submitting it results in a 'technical error'. :mad:0

That's because both brands run from the same background server. (lloyds banking group)If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...:think:0 -
I'd suggest you take a look at your credit reports before trying again, despite what Halifax are saying.0

Might be worth checking Experian to make sure you don't now have multiple searches for these failed attempts (the error doesn't necessarily occur before they search Experian)0

They don't show on your credit file instantly. It takes a few days to show. I know thos via personal experience. If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...:think:0
