I have a new printer which is an Epson XP-405 .
I have spent hours today and yesterday trying to install it on my laptop.
I'm beginning to think my laptop isn't compatible as it won't let me do it.
My laptop is Acer Aspire 5738Z and use Windows 7
I have the installation disc for the printer and all goes well until it looks like installation is finished, then it says printer drivers arent installed.
I have tried to do it manually and even gone on the microsoft website and Epson to download drivers there, but still won't work.
I don't have the firewall blocked or anything.
My hubbie has two laptops and it works for him even without installing using the disc.
We are using the printer as wi-fi.
Can anybody help.
It does come up with error messages saying drivers arent there and a MAC code.

I feel your pain ... and can't really offer much apart from sympathy.
But what OS does your husband's machines use, I wonder?
Also, is yours a new laptop, and have you been successful in installing other software?
I ask as I suspect that Win 7 is the culprit here.
Maybe you have to set up "Administrator privileges" or something like that.0 -
My husband also has Windows 7.
I don't think it's that as the printer is compatible with that as it's a new model.
My laptop and his are about 3 years old.
It installed it last night as in it recognised it, but it wouldn't get the correct drivers.
Earlier on today it said something like some files maybe missing.0 -
Do you have the latest driver http://www.epson.co.uk/gb/en/viewcon/corporatesite/products/mainunits/support/11541 ? Mind you have 2 choice for W7 either 64bit or 32bit.
When you download it have you chosen "Run as Administrator" when you right click the file? Also "Troubleshoot compatibility".0 -
Hi Jemma
I've tried the link before but doesn't work for me.
How do I run as administrator, it doesn't give me an option to do that.
It downloads the programme, I open it and it says run, I can't right click or anything, it just runs.
I'm puzzled to why a new printer shouldn't install the drivers on my laptop off the disc that came with it.
This has never happened before with other printers.
Maybe my laptop isn't compatible but I wouldn't know how to find out.
My husband says it should be as it came with Windows 7.
Thanks for your help though Jemma xx0 -
Jemma, Sorry, I've just found out how to run as administrator, still won't work though0

Was the file you downloaded epson375067eu.exe?
If you try this, it may say what the error is, maybe worth trying with the other laptop(s) switched off.

If it still says missing files etc, probably as quick to use their live chat in office hours, when you are with the laptop and printer

Thanks Santer,
It came up with an error report and some numbers with lots of 0,s
We are going to try it with hubbies laptops switched off.
There has been his two and mine on at the same time.0 -
That is for the 64 bit version of Windows
This should detect the system being used

I would go for the network package as " Once it is downloaded & launched it will connect to the internet and download the latest driver software for your Epson product; this may include scanner drivers (where applicable), printer drivers and network/WIFI drivers/software. "
The latest network package seems to be {3.3.0} 25-Oct-2012 3.60MBs
If you click download for that, it should be 375067eu.exe
Have you uninstalled any software from the previous attempts to install the driver, before starting again.
Live chat is worth a go as they almost always stick with it until the printer works properly.0 -
Yes just chatted with Epson, they gave me the link for the download you gave me but it doesn't work.
It says I have a newer version of the drivers on my computer, but I can't find them.
I've even gone to disc clean up as he suggested but still doesn't work.
I can see I have my older printer installed which is an Epson R300. I have tried deleting that off several times from add/remove programmes and it keeps coming back.0
