They never remove, some people can revert to the old system.

They will only take them out if you have had it in less than a year.

If they have upped your direct debit that much, it means you were not paying enough for your past use and you are in debt so playing catch up,

Just try to be more frugal with water.

Do you know how much your annual usage was last year (Not what you paid by dd, it is irrelevant)

Find out the cost of your annual consumption and then ask a neighbour who hasnt got a metre how much their's in on rateable value. I think you will find you are still quids in with a meter.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    .

they never take them out :) as the next person who moves in automatically goes on the meter.

Unless you were the person who requested the meter and in the first year (some water co's 2 year) then you will stay paying on the meter
  • we have all had meters put in in the last three months & are on the old system till the spring, then we go onto the meter with no choice, i really don't mind i've already used 1000 ltrs less than next door so should save me a fortune
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Thames is a compulsary metering area, so either you requested a meter and within the first year you can elect to be charged on the old system or you recently moved in or took a new lease and are stuck with it.

Meters are never physically removed, though you can revert to RV billing within the first 12 months after fitting (unless you are a new tenant/owner since the meter was fitted, in which case metering is compulsory).
It's unlikely that your consumption has risen 350%, so the reason for the huge DD increase is probably due to previous under-estimated billing, and now you have a big catch-up bill. Your DD will drop back once the debt has been cleared.
Avoid this is future by giving regular readings, say every 3 months.
