  • Well I wasn't having a snipe at you, but am now inclined to do so. You are clearly one of the extremist idiots who, given enough time, would happily drag our once great nation down to the status of a third world country, all in the name of political dogma which you don't even take the time to try to understand nor question. How you consider yourself qualified to comment on the intellect of any other poster is a source of great amusement to me given most of your recent posts. Sadly, however, today's education system, where everyone must leave school considering themselves to be high achievers, leaves many an intellectual pygmy feeling that a few A*s are a sign of their supreme intelligence and superiority.

At least The White Horse displays a degree of humour in his posts, many of which are deliberate wind-ups. Unfortunately, you clearly believe all that you post, no matter how ludicrous the premise.

You feel that everyone is motivated by self-interest. If that was truly the case we would not have the country that we share. People continue to give their lives for this country - a supreme act that is clearly not a case of self-interest. Many more throughout the country freely give their time and money to help support others in the community, whether youth groups, the elderly, the homeless, ex-prisoners, drug addicts etc. Unfortunately, people who are motivated purely by self-interest can't begin to understand truly altruistic motivation in others.

There are many things wrong with our country and society, but thankfully the majority do try to make a difference, rather than always act out of self-interest. Maybe one day you will grow up and join us.

All of those personal assumptions are wrong. You've already made a fool of yourself, do yourself a favour and stop digging.

Care to elighten us about what a nice chap you are in real life, and how you manage to confine your more moronic personality traits to a little read internet forum then?

I'm afraid you sometimes get to the point where people are so dumb that it's almost cruel to keep posting on a particular thread. This is one of those times.

I know, but I just can't help myself. I'm sure that I'll feel bad about it later, but for now it's priceless.

I am sorry but these threads amaze me.
All the time we are arguing about who should pay for the care of OUR elderly in GB ,our Government is sending tax payers money to aid other countries whilst scratching their heads , trying to find ways to spend less on the very people they are supposed to represent.
While the UK now has people homeless , starving, unable to find work and god forbid need help when they grow old , the UK government is chucking millions at other countries who have admitted they don't really need our help.
as for people fighting to retain assets they have worked and paid for , rather than be robbed because they now need help which was promised to them years ago?
    Good luck to them
Perhaps those MP,s that have spent the tax payers money on second homes and expenses should pay back the people who have funded their lavish lifestyles for far too long?

According to Cameron we should continue with the foreign aid -- soon going up to £11 bn a year -- because we are such a "generous nation".

This policy no doubt emerged from some potty think tank, comprising 35 year old t******s who know nothing about anything other than furthering their own careers, and some of whom will no doubt be the cabinet ministers of the 2030s. The premise is that it will buy goodwill and "influence" around the world. We will be able to punch above our weight. Countries will listen to our pronouncements on human rights. They will give us favourable trade deals. Pigs might fly.

In the meantime , people have lost their income , are losing their homes, cannot afford to eat and the elderly are dying alone just because there is no funding left .
I really hope my sons take these decision makers to task in 20 years time when it proves completely idiotic

But shouldn't that aid be directed at countries that really need our help? You know, who can't afford to support their people? As opposed to ones that probably could afford it if they didn't spend so much on such essentials of life as, for example, nuclear weapons or space programs? OK, I know aid to one of such countries is due to be ended by 2015 but why the heck are we still giving them cash now?

Seems very unfair that those you have worked hard built up a nest egg should have to sell up to cover costs while those you have ran up debt, not put anything buy get a free ride

Some people have worked in low-paid jobs all their lives and haven't been able to afford to buy a house or accumulate much in savings.

People like the carers, cooks and cleaners in the expensive care home that those with their own means can access.

The people funded by the State don't have the choice. So it evens out in the end.
