hi, my parents are in debt and wanted to pay off what they owed.
they could not afford it so joined up with one debt solution .
i,m not sure what happened in between but one debt solution was told by ombudsman that they need to refund parents around £1500.
every time parents phone up one debt solution asking where is refund they told its in the post.
but check never ever arrive.
this has been going on for months and now parents have been told that one debt solution are going into liquidation on the 14th of january.
so does that that mean that my mum and dad will not be getting their money back now?
i just wondered if anyone can let me know as mum and dad like most people are struggling and could really really do with the money.
thankyou in advance

thankyou for answering.
i mean cheque not check.
do you think they have lost their money?0 -
They will have to invoice for what they are owed and apply to the administrators as creditors.
To be honest, it looks like they have been had.
The chances of getting anything back are slim.
Companies like these prey on vulnerable people by lying they can reduce what you owe.
They can not.Be happy...;)0 -
Hi there, sorry to hear your parents have got into such strife. Whilst I can't answer your question, if they are still struggling then please direct them to this site. And if they need debt help then get them to call Stepchange or Payplan (both FREE) for help

I'm afraid the likelihood of getting money back in these cases is very slim.

Hi there,
I just wondering if anyone can give me some advice or steer me in the right direction. My Father has been with One Debt Solutions for 3 years now and thankfully most of his debt is cleared, but he is still getting calls from some companies saying that one debt have never paid anything to them. When my father calls one debt he is passed from one operator to another, or please email the following address. Only to find that the emails are never being seen. Today my father called one debt to find out what is going on. About two hours ago my father finds out that the company has gone into administration and that all accounts have been frozen with no money in the accounts to pay debts. My parents do not know where to turn too and yet again one of the companies who need paying have called. We have explained to them the reason but they are not interested both my parents suffer with ill health and this is not doing them any favours. This One Debt Solutions sound to me like a bunch of cowboys who are only interested in ripping off vulnerable people. As I said any steer in the right direction would be very helpful.
Many Thanks

I joined One Debt Solution in May 2011, soon after I realised something was up but this was after they took £640 from me. They did nothing on my behalf, so I took control and complained to the Financial Ombudsman. the Adjudicator found in my favour and informed One Debt Solution they needed to repay my money plus a small amount for inconvenience and undue stress, they have ignored the Financial Ombudsman, this is now being taken to a legal level by the ombudsman. However, after reading ODS are going into liquidation it does not look like anyone will be getting any money back. In your case I would suggest investigating further as my first instincts are that your parents have been conned and no payments at all have been made on their behalf and they will be chased by their creditors. The Financial Ombudsman has had no official notification of the liquidation. From posts on these consumer forums there must be hundreds of people ripped off but hardly any if none have gone to the ombudsman by the looks of it. It may be too late now.0 -

I have been with One Debt Solution for 3 years, paying well over £13,000 to them to clear my debts. Having found out that they had paid just £2,000 to my creditors, I reported the matter to the Financial Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman found in my favour and told the Company that they had to pay back to me all the funds that I had paid, along with a small sum for stress and inconvenience.
Obviously the story is a lot longer, but in short One Debt Solution are seriously in breach of Contract etc etc, despite repeated promises that a cheque was in the post to me, I have never received it.
I was informed before Christmas that the Company had gone into Liquidation and to contact the Liquidator. I have today been informed that the Company's Statement of Affairs show that they have no money whatsoever. Funny that, as my money should have been kept in a ringfenced account, as per the Contract.
Basically, I would like to know if anyone has any advice about what I can do to try and obtain some, if not all of my money back. I appreciate that this is a long shot, but I'm currently distraught that I've worked so hard to pay this amount off my debts and the Director is now reaping the benefits - or someone is. I however, have to start all over again.0 -
Hi Annoyed32
I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. I fear, however, that now that this firm has gone into liquidation, you are unlikely to recover any of your money (along with numerous other customers, no doubt).
I'm sorry for the pessimistic tone of this reply but this is a scenario we've come across so many times down the years. The debt management sector is very lightly regulated and one has to exercise great care when shopping in this particular market.
Have your creditors been actively pursuing you of late? I appreciate that this is not a very welcome prospect, but you will now need to review how you deal with them as I don't think anything good will come from the ashes of One Debt Solution.
Regards
