Terrible Virgin Media (ex NTL) TV

Infidel,
If you have a Virgin phone line, try 151 instead of 150 as that's the dedicated fault line. I've found with that number that I've tended to get through to one of the UK call centres instead of the Indian one. I've also read somewhere if you press the "anything else" type option instead of any for specific things, you should get a UK centre. Good luck!

When I spoke to the engineer yesterday, he said to ring in the day and not after 6.00 that way you get through to the British call centre. Insist you have an engineer round and that you want a refund on this month."The trouble with being punctual is that nobody's there to appreciate it.":0

but trying to tell that to someone you can barely understand in India can get quite annoying, especially when they are monotonously reading to you from their walk-through guide for idiots.
I had a problem to which the reply was "your video is broken". The fact that it wasn't even a video issue and she just reread this same sentence 6 times kinda showed me that they had NO idea. Only got my particular problem sorted when I phoned to cancel.
Threatening to cancel seems to be the only way to get them to listen.0 -
Yeah, i rather think it is a problem with the box, but trying to tell that to someone you can barely understand in India can get quite annoying, especially when they are monotonously reading to you from their walk-through guide for idiots.
Does anyone have a freephone number where i can sort out an engineer? I don't want to have to go through all the above AGAIN before i finally get put through up to one hour later.
I've been having constant problems since they swapped over and keep losing channels, info and on demand catch up tv.
If you have virgin media phone then ring 150 or 151 free of charge. Alternatively (if you want to avoid the indian call centre) ring freephone number 0800 052 9403, i usually choose the option of "wishing to leave". This number is retentions and customer support (tend to be more helpful)"A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist." Franklin Jones0 -
We have also had the problem of firing up slow... also before I start to blame my telly.. anyone else got the problem of picture jumping all the time?0

loads of problems here too, its been useless since the changeover, programme info on blink, tv at your control doesnt work, picture jumping, and now the whole thing has gone on the blink, I'm currently trying to get a MAC code to change over but that in itself appears to be a project.Aha, so thats how you do a signature!0

I see, it's not just me. At first i did wonder if it was just my connection here.
I'm not actually sure if i have a virgin media phone anymore, it was NTL, but as they supposedly don't exist anymore is my phone now virgin media???
No doubt i will be calling them in the next couple of days, i just have to figure out whether i should call once to get an engineer and one months free service and then call again to get a cheaper deal (as i am paying way over the odds at the moment and as i have been with them for over 3 years i am thinking about changing to a cheaper service). Or should i try and do it all in the same phone call????Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0 -
Just a tip for those of you with Pace boxes...
It's worth taking out your viewing card (in a hidden slot behind the flap) and checking it for signs of overheating. Mine was charred brown.
The key thing to do is make sure you get an engineer out. If they suspect any problems with a Pace box they should change it for the new one rather than try and fix it.Can I help?0 -
Freephone 0800 052 9403. This will get you through to the people can can discounts your account and you can threaten to leave if its not sorted blah blah blah. i complained about the lack of sky one and sky sports news and got 3 months free sports package. Tell them aswell that you dont have the time to be chasing them up all the time and that you want an engineer out not just a signal sent down the line which is probably code for - lets get a cup of tea.. Good luck.0

That would be because you can't get a MAC code on cable as Virgin Media is the only broadband supplier on cable. MAC codes are only used for broadband over BT lines so all you have to do is get your BT line activated or installed and then sign up for broadband with a company that offers ADSL.0
