Perfectly possible to get such 'free lunches', without changing your banking habits at all.

Sure, as you are paying for the 'free' lunches already, you might as well have them.

I really enjoy when we go in going upstairs in our branch to the premier lounge and getting free food haha

Forgive me, but why do you go for lunch at a bank? And do you really believe in free lunches?

Think you'll find you're actually paying for it no bank give out free lunches unless they're getting something in return.

Usually large profits from savings. Banks will typically make 7% profit from whatever you have stuffed in there.

On £150000 (the qualification for free Premier banking) will be around £200 a week for the bank.

    Just thought I'd update.

Went into the branch today, Took lots of paperwork, they took a copy of my driving license and a copy of my Natwest statement.

The computer said yes!! :D I'm apparently getting a "black card" (Is that good) and I'll be sent a "Premier credit card" but thats linked to my boyfriend :-S

A great result. We don't have to pay a fee? Which is even better!

Glad you got it sorted! And great news about having the fee waived, this only happens if an annual income in excess of £150k enters the account; or if you have savings above a certain amount (can't remember off the top of my head)

In regards to the black premier debit card, it is the standard card for a Barclays premier account which is actually also contactless (although if you fail the credit check, youl just keep a standard cyan coloured card without the contactless). However, the black premier credit card is actually no longer available! But since your partner already had one, that's probably why your receiving it :)

My partners life savings are in Barclays (His parents died when he was really young and obviously everything was left to him)

Whats a contactless card? Sorry I sound so blonde!!

I'm scared of using the credit card, I won't like getting a bill at the end of the month :P

It was easier than I thought, Apparently I can just ring this person if I have any questions instead of ringing the call centre. Which I think is neat.

Yh, the Barclays premier managers are great. Mine was especially helpful when he was needed!

Here is a link to contactless cards on Barclays:

Not all places do it yet, but some common ones are Greggs and McDonalds. My M&S do it to, and as of recently, London buses :)

Haha, just make sure you know how your (and your partners) credit card is paid off each month, for example, is it the full balance, set amount or minimum amount? Just try to control your spending on it :)

I am delighted you got what you wanted but now it's time to instill a bit of realism. They aren't charging you/your boyfriend directly but you can bet your bottom dollar that it's always the customer who is paying.

    And here is the answer:

He could without doubt get better return for his money if it wasn't saved / invested with Barclays.

I'm partial to a Greggs or Maccys (Cheap date haha!). Just read that site and it sounds like I just show the machine the card and I get my big mac :D

I will check that, but I don't want to use the card, Credit cards sound scary.
