Other than the refurb ones, we couldn't find iPads discounted anywhere today. If you know someone who works where they sell them you might be able to use their discount

we had a lovely Xmas yesterday. i worked out that all the food and drink only cost me less than £30.00 thanks to everyone on MSE. My children and OH gave me money towards a new Iphone 4. Then after lunch my sister brought out my pressie.

    IT IS A MACBOOK PRO

I am never speechless but I was for a full five minutes. I am writing on it now and I already love it!! Have a nice day

Morning & Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for the new thread Dave. We are having a very MSM Christmas.
Last of the cheap pork & beef joints fom the DTD from when Tesco first launched the PP. Custard & stuffing from the same. Xmas pud from when selling off cheap last year, as is Cranberry (all still in date). Big chicken bought with wombles. All veg from Aldi specials & the best is the Xmas Tree Cake. Pot are Fabulous fingers, chocolate is a gold bar and cake are a couple of cheap cake mixes. DD loved decorating it yesterday with 12p Cadbury wishes star on the top. Makes a change from the usual trifle.

Also made crackers for the table & inside each one is a cadburys wish or purple one (also boght with wombles & only 12 p each last week).
Thanks everyone for all of your help. Everyone is getting a hamper filled with goodies from the Asda APG v Waitrose glitch & 3 for £10 choc glitch. Cats are all getting loads of almost free Iams.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

OK, time for me to trawl the threads and pick out a post at random to comment on!! (Not really, as hardly random.)

And I thought I was doing well... people commenting they didn't know "how I did it" (saving so much on shopping) but, from the above, I am clearly doing some of it wrong and paying way too much...

The bags of Haribo sweets, def. not worth doing 10% cheaper than a competitor's £1. Clearly from the above I'm still doing something wrong, and I wish I was as organised as this on all the best possible deals - although I guess we're all more expert in some things rather than others, and while I spend more time down Morries trying to work out to avoid comparing vs S or T at higher prices, your time is best spent getting everything way down in price and shopping at just the right time.

Yet, from the above, I now think the following

Haribo Xmas mix are scanning at 25p in asda :j

... is very good, useful information to tell us, but it just isn't good enough!!....

We should be waiting until they go to 12p, or even 8p or 4p, before we stock up!!!

I never seem to time this right. Got Confectionary hallowe'ens for instance after Hallowe'en but at 50p. That's too much. Yet if I wait till they're 5p each, I always seem to arrive too late and they've all been sold. Or I see them at 10p, and think I'll wait as next week they'll be 5p, but they never go to 5p and instead sell out at 10p and never return.

Please can the Whoopsie and real reduction experts on here help me out. I managed to get my Xmas pudding (bought in January and still in date) for £1 - in retrospect that £1 is probably too expensive - and doubtless will now go and buy next year's pud in the next few weeks. But when exactly should I time it? Is it best going now, two days' time, a week's time or holding off till mid Jan? What exact dates is the lowest price reached after a holiday after which, a day later, they are likely all to be sold and you've missed out? I know it'll vary depending on whether people shopping have bought them all - and we can't predict stock-outs - but when do stores reduce seasonal items to their lowest prices?

Partic. thinking now of the Xmas items - the puds and the Xmas mixes - but advice as to what date after Hallowe'en to buy those seasonal sweets also sought. Is 8 November, for instance, too late? Am I going to find nothing come 15 Nov or am I going to find it 12p, rather than 50p, then? I don't have the wherewithal - or the petrol - to check every day until I see a low price and, when I do see a low price, say 12p, how do I know it's not going to be two p a day or so later?

I've saved on many things this year, but clearly not enough and not perfect perfection that we all want. We've all just got to do even better - some of the wombles showing items vs competitor but other pack sizes of different makes, or downshifted versions that are equally as good, would have been even better and we've got to pick those! It's not just the nice treats either, but staples like bread and potatoes.

Dates on the post-seasonal items would be very appreciated.
    TIA.

I don't think there is a "set" date for stuff to become cheaper. To be honest, and as you have already seen, it's a risk you take, stuff being cheaper after you've already bought it

It's all part of the game :)
