I haven't read those (only part of the Hobbit) so enjoyed the films. I think the key is whether you have read the books and enjoyed them, if so don't watch the films as it ruins any re-reading of the books. But I suppose if you haven't read them and watch the films first then you will still enjoy the books.
I read all the Game of Thrones books before it was serialised and they have cut out more than they have shown but some of the characters were cast well.0 -
Had a nice dinner at Mums with 2 sisters last night. Used up some wombled lamb from T and some whoopsied veg from New Morrisons. However ended on a bad note cause the subject of Mums care came up again and eldest sister started throwing her weight around and told me to go home.
So I did where I will stay until she goes home on 16th Jan. I am going to call Eldest brother tonight and call a meeting between us siblings to discuss way forward with Mum.
I am going to employment agency tommorow to register. There is a nice bookkeeping job going that would suit me advertised. Think my only option is to get a job and they will have to realise that Mum needs outside care as I am done.
Just getting to pop out for the paper and get a bit more Alessi cutlery as I have some more coupons and some Sun £5.00 off vouchers aswell.
No food though as I have already had to play fridge and freezer tetris today.
Happy New Year to all my dear friends on here. ( and I mean everyone)
Rose28454 wanted to wish you good luck for the coming year. I know you have had some very hard times with your mum last year and hope that things get better for you and her in 2013. You are an amazing lady and deserve much happiness. :A0 -
Hi everyone and a Happy New Year to you all! I am looking advice from you experts regarding APG.
Just to tell you a little about myself I am a divorced male and I am retired on a state pension so as you can imagine I have to be careful regarding spending.
I started using coupons and voucher’s a year ago and prior to doing that the amount of cash I had left by my next pension day would only be a few pounds; I have a free bus pass and plenty of time to go to most of the supermarkets so I basically follow the bargains and coupons free samples etc. Providing I have use for them.
I bought a large chest freezer to go with my split fridge freezer to enable me to batch cook meals and buy some items in bulk and freeze sometimes I find bread reduced to 19p so I will by 5 loaves or milk reduced and freeze them so at the moment they are both pretty full.
The amount of money I have saved over the last year has amazed me I have no debt and a £1000 in savings what a turn around, and the bonus is on top of that is I am eating like a King and trying loads of different types of food.
When I go shopping I will go to a supermarket with a list and armed with my coupons etc. Making sure I only get what I went for unless I come across some Woopsies! So quite often I may only spend £5 or on times less but I will do this in a number of places Lidl, Aldi, Morrison’s, Tesco, Sainsbury, as I said I have a bus pass and time.
So going back to the APG I don’t think there is any advantage for me or is there? I have now turned this into a hobby and I just love it when I get some things for free or for pence there have been times when I am at the checkout and have 2 bags of shopping for a few pounds it’s just amazing if I had done this throughout my life I would be a very rich man now.
So thank you all for the tips I have already received and if anyone can give me some more please do so as they say in Tesco every little helps
I am so glad you posted. What an uplifting story. Just proves the power of this thread. Nice to meet you
BTW has anyone else noticed Tesco do not reduce the bread baked instore anymore?0 -

I try to consider the movies a thing in their own right, separate to the books. It will not work always, of course, but The Lord of the Rings is an example where I love the books so much, nothing will change what they are to me so I can appreciate aspects of the films as they remind me of parts of the books. I tend to imagine things happening that should be happening in between what they show in the film and try to find things to like rather than focusing on what they exclude or change.
It is like having your own version of films in your head that others do not get to watch.2013 Wombles onto Giftcard Challenge £0/£1200 -

Thanks. I have not heard from Mum or sis today and deliberately did not phone them. The only way for it to get better is for her to accept help from Social Services and for my brothers and sister to do more. I have a lot of debt and realised today its me who need looking after and I am the onlyv one who can do it. I was having a chat with OH yesterday and he said that he realised I had a tough 20 years or so with him as an alcoholic and now I need to be free to do my own thing. He is 5 years sober in Feb and has only just started to realise what a terrible price I paid for it all. He and my DD think I should just walk away from it all asap.
Had a lovely quiet day on my own. and DD is home now as she has moved back after splitting with fiance. I have given her a free month but then she has to start to pay me for living here. I have also sorted quite a few papers today ready to see if I am owed any PPI. Best of luck to you too.0 -
Thought for the new year
Does anyone know where wombling originated, as in the term
I am assuming it began here, does anyone recall and if so, who coined it2013 Wombles onto Giftcard Challenge £0/£1200 -
