Sending you a massive hug and lots of get well soon wishes. Awful to be so ill over Xmas. I had the flu 3 weeks back and felt really ill and down. Sounds like you have a wonderful hubby and lovely caring family around you. Okay so this Xmas is not going to be all that you were hoping for, just look after yourself and enjoy what you can of it though, there will still be some magic moments.

I do admire people who make all their mulled wine and food from scratch. Take it from someone who buys alot of things ready prepared (as I dont have the time or knowledge of how to do alot of things myself) most if it is very nice. Whatever takes the pressure off right now so you can concentrate on what matters is what is important.

awww poor you! I had it a few weeks back and hun, believe me, I was good for nothing too! now stay in bed, take your honey and lemon and whatever (or whatever), and let OH cope! everyone will rally round and whats the betting they say its the best christmas ever!!!
  • A few years ago I got rushed into hospital for emergency surgery on Christmas eve, I have never been so grateful for being an organised list freak! I handed control of the whole shebang to the OH - it was all fine, and thankfully I was allowed home Christmas day afternoon.

Try to relax and let them take the strain

Sorry you're not feeling well, hopefully you will feel brighter tomorrow and even being ill, will be able to enjoy the day. Thank goodness you have what sounds like a lovely helpful hub.

I must admit I'm feeling blue this year too. Not through illness, just being away from families and hub working on 26th means that it's just him and me in the house this year. I know there are loads who are alone so I'm not complaining, and I am very grateful to be able to spend the time with my lovely hub, but I just can't get festive. The tree and decs have been up for ages but I only shopped for food today and just can't get into it. Yes, I know there are loads much more unfortunate, and I feel sad for them too.

  • I had it last week, never felt so ill. Still not great now, low energy and feel like I'll never be 100% again. Luckily we are at the in laws tomorrow but have got to cook for my family Boxing Day. Hopefully I'll be far less snotty then!

    Get better soon.

Aaawww the flu was threatening to ruin our Christmas too. Oh is very ill and we daren't risk going to his mum's as was planned as if she gets flu it could be deadly. So we're at home with no Christmas dinner food as I didn't buy any thinking we were going to MIL's!!
I have decided that we will have a day of nibbles on Boxing Day as always but also tomorrow. We can still enjoy the kids opening their pressies and playing with them and eating rubbish.
I plan to get lots of half price bargains on Thursday when the shops price the food down :-)
Every cloud has a silver lining x Hope you feel better soon and get some precious moments with family x

Last year i was admitted to A and E in the very early hours on Christmas morning with a very nasty chest infection I had been unable to shift. I was so very poorly and in quite a bad state. I was discharged after some IV antibiotics later on that morning.

However i was no use to man nor beast. So we cancelled the day. Me and the OH made up a bed fort in the living room piled food and drinks around us and played the entire Halo games series back to back. It was great fun with very little effort on my part.

Even though i was very unwell it still makes me smile because it still turned out wonderful just very different from how it was supposed to be.

We had a second Christmas on new years day :)
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...
