Sorry to hear of the set-backs R-O, but definitely agree it's still £1000 in the right direction. When I reached teenager stage, mum told me she would buy school uniform and food, and if I wanted anything else, I'd have to pay for it myself by finding a job/ Would that work for you guys?
Have just gotten back from my aunt's after the long weekend, and feel so embarrassed by how much she spent on my visit! She wouldn't accept a single penny from me, and sent me home with a big bag full of vegetables. However, even with the free weekend, I still have very little money left at the end of the month, and that was even with living carefully to keep some money aside for my hols next week! Have no idea where the money has all gone!
Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone. Was just that on a good week we spend £15-£25 on food for 2. I'm always shocked when it creeps up.
Amr, will find the recipe when I turn on the laptop for lentil lasagne. I believe it's dead easy. I noticed our local pyo sells hay at £5 a bay, not sure if that's how much you pay but worth a scout around if it's cheaper.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Thanks all. I will have a look at your suggestions. To clear up a few things, hubby does take sandwiches for one meal, but if he's working all day and evening, or all night, he needs one hot meal in him, so always takes one hot meal too.
Kids are too young for jobs, they are 13 and 12 (so admittedly not technically both teens, but night as well be as they eat adult sized meals).Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0 -

5 minute simmer soup, in a flask?0 -
Or last nights leftovers? Make enough for the extra portion, or bulk out with beans, lentils etcDiary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Not offended! I actually just read back and realised it was £100 a week and I had read it as £100 a month. That sounds a bit more realistic - I was thinking I must accidentily be buying the gold leaf apples :rotfl:
£15-20 is what I would typically spend per week, sometimes a little more if it's a big top-up shop. Though I'm thinking I might need to up my budget a little for food - my aunt was telling me about the benefits of having a couple of carb free days a week, so I'm going to try having 1 carb free day a week to see how I get on, but I'm just aware it might be costly.0 -
