Hello all,
Well I have news to announce. We're now looking at buying a home! A new build where my bessie mate is buying one. Yes I know I said I didn't like new builds but this is in the ideal location for us.
The house we want hasn't actually been built yet and it's looking like another year or so before the style we want becomes available. So...
...my new personal challenge is to save a 5% deposit of ideally £6,600 in the next 18months (possibly more), perfectly doable. Have set up regular saving ISAs in both of our names to save into monthly, using the money I would have paid towards the CC debt. Exciting times
Would never have been in a position to consider this if it wasn't for this thread. Thanks all for the support to becoming debt free xxx0 -

Been busy last couple of days as OH is visiting and we've been out enjoying the beer garden weather! I've sold a few things on EB@y too, so will update that later today!
hismissus that's something to really look forward to, and such perfect timing! I'm still lusting after flats on zoopla, but I think you've just cottoned on the the perfect way to stop that! Will you be sticking around here for your savings?
My OH and I did a mortgage tester yesterday to find out how much we could borrow. It's twice what I thought we would be allowed! But I don't think we would have the patience to get together double the deposit, and the repayments would cripple us... Between us though, we almost half half a deposit together, which is pretty good! And ten we just have to save for some furniture...0 -

:jthat's great!!! We wouldn't eligible for very much I think £130k at the most based on our current salaries. We only really want to pay around £125k for a house however and hope to have £20k to put down... So fingers crossed. It will take us around 2 years to save it!!!
OH and I have juste upgraded our phones!! We both have crappy phones that aer on the way out - my speaker doesn't even work  it has upped our combined phone bill by £14 a month but as we now have unlimited minutes we can downgrade the phone package to compensate (we never use it anyway).0 -
the MSer in me is looking on ebay for new sandals... i'll be damned if i pay £35 for a new pair!!!! daylight robbery0

:rotfl: I just know exactly what you mean! I can't bring myself to part with such sums of money...
Well I've finally made all my payments for the months, so I'm currently sitting at:
#141 (I think) £1105/3250
So I've now broken the £1k mark :T and the 33% mark :T I was also able to buy a brand new phone this week using my treats fund - I won't have to live on bread and butter, and I haven't affected my savings in any way - it's guilt free! :j which is a really lovely situation to be in!0
